"Curl Up N' Dye" is a hair salon about two miles from my house.
We also used to have a "Milliways" espresso stand but that's only funny if you've read the Hitchhikers trilogy.

Curl Up n' Dye was stolen from The Blues Brothers (go tell 'em you are on to 'em Critter). It was the salon where the woman played by Carrie Fisher (smokin' hot back then) who was trying to kill Jake.
There use to be a gay bar in San Jose called Happy Feet. If you are hip to the lil' weird drawings from the early 70s like the 'Keep on Truckin' stuff you may recall happy feet being a pair of feet apart that are toes up and between then a pair of feet toes down. Figure it out. The sign for this bar had a teepee and the feet were both pairs toes down! |

There used to be a gay bar here in Birmingham named, "Mabel's Beauty Parlor & Chainsaw Repair".
There is also, "Bobo's Pest Control". It makes me think of clowns with big shoes stomping on cockroahes.

Not a company but street names. Just outside Carson City on 395 going toward Reno is Lone Pole Cat Road. The funeral home in Carson was on Graves Street, they changed the name to College Parkway though there is no college, there is a prison though. My dentist in San Jose is named Dr. Pepper and is on Crown Blvd.

I used to drive through Waycross, Georgia and would see sign for a Natural Gas or Propane Gas company named... Tuten Gas.

Dang I looooove Waycross Georgia. The opening to Smokey and the Bandit 2 was shot there. I lived down the street in St Mary's/Woodbine.
There was a bar in Morgan Hill, California across the the cemetary (my best friend who showed me the bar is now in that cemetary) called The Morgue, there is a sign on the outside that says "Come in and suck down a cold one" |

My girlfriends maiden name was Harness. Six degrees of corperation.
There used to be a restaurant here called "Dewey, Cheatem, and Howe" with three layers on the sign. I think they got that from the 3 Stooges or Monty Python or something. Still funny though. Of course, we also have Dick's burgers, which has been around since like the 50's. They have one in Seattle too but this time we were first.

Outside of Sacramento was Murder Burger. They sold the place, I guess it did well, and the new owners then noticed that they didn't own the name (smart eh?). So now if you cruise down 80 toward Davis you'll see Redrum Burger.
