I've checked out bluehost.com that many here have recommended, but speaking with them today I found out they do not help with migrating files from my current site. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced host that will assist with moving my site and allow me to modify/update from my home computer?

Boy, you are asking a lot, most people that design sites, want contracted to also maintain that site. Meaning, they update and modify the site. That is their job. Maybe you can find a site builder person who would like to do a one time site design, but you will need to know the software used, or have a copy of the software, if not the one the new site has available on their server.
As far as moving, most hosting sites have their own design software, so you kind of have find a hosting site that uses the exact same software, otherwise they must convert to their software, which of course causes a whole new set of problems. That being said, if you have the ability to make changes to your site, then you should have no problem coping the files from one server to another. Most will have telephone help to activate the files. If you are using straight HTML language, then you should not have any problems saving your site to your computer and uploading it to a new site, yourself. I think compatability is your biggest problem to overcome. That is my 2 cents worth. |

Steve -
I had a friend help me move my site from one host to another. Also, I had a different friend do some website editing for me, that I couldn't do. So, you might not have to use the same person / company to do it all. - Donald

I have set up many sites with a couple of different host. The last site I set up was with Hostgator.com (although I really like Bluehost)and I think I saw that they will move your site. You might check it out.
