I want to build a blade box and was searching on youtube. I saw two clips that showed upright boxes that the assistant sat in and there legs were on the outside of the box and there hands stuck out of holes. Any one know who makes this type of box and if plans are available?

Hello Joe:
The blade box is usually a coffin type cabinet, used for many years on the sideshows. I think that you are looking for a SWORD CABINET ILLUSION. Although I never have seen this performed with the hands and legs outside the cabinet, but it is an UPRIGHT box setup. Check out Osbourne Illusion Systems They have the Sword Cabinet plans and the coffin Blade box plans. They have all kinds of plans , and maybe would have the plans that you are looking for. Hope this helps! http://hamiltonholtinc.stores.yahoo.net/swordcabinet.html ROD |

There is a diagram of a sit down blade box in John Hillard's Greater Magic. It has been used in sideshows as a ding. The backside of the cabinet is made of chicken wire so people can come up and see the girl in the box.

Joe Faro you seem to be describing an illusion called the Kung Foo Cabinet.
I found a set of plans on the big auction site a long time ago but I don't know if they are still available. The illusion plans were copyrighted by Steve Kovarez in 1994. Joe

I don't know how to list the youtube link but if you search for blade box illusion it is one of the first clips. It was posted by 24archer and isn't in English but it's a great illusion. Any one with info. please post it.

Yes the Kung Foo Cabinet it is,,,put out by Kovari and Taurus Magic, cost around £600 in the begining but now !!!Who knows. Two types one with wood blades the other with metal,,,another twist was added when the Zigzag feature of Harbins was used within it but I felt this was guilding the lilly to extreme.

You know, without talking and explaining what the heck that box is supposed to be, it is a pretty lousy illusion.
