Kings Crossing The Ultimate Jumbo Cards Across by Nicolas Gignac:
Nicolas is one of my friend. This trick is a great variation of cards across and easy to do. VIDEO DEMO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oc2uiDN5yLY Kings Crossing is “Cards Across” on steroids: Jumbo cards. No sleight-of-hand. No palming. No false counts. Absolutely clean!!! The routine possibilities for “Kings Crossing” are limitless. This is a no-nonsense and literally self-working version of the classic effect, and allows you to concentrate on your presentation while fooling the pants off of your audience! The Effect: Here is a basic bare bones routine that you can do with “Kings Crossing”. You show a stack of 20 jumbo-sized cards, and explain how you are going to simply transfer a bit of LOVE in your show. You bring onto the stage a couple of star-crossed lovers—or in a pinch, a married couple will also do. Very fairly, deliberately, and separately, you count out the 20 jumbo cards onto the table—there are no false counts or sleights. You spread the top 10 cards in a fan, and show everyone including the volunteers that they are all King of Spades—everyone can clearly see 10 separate King of Spades. You close up the spread and give them to the man to hold safely in his hands, against his heart—all in the name of love! You then spread the other 10 cards in a fan, and show them all to be Aces of Diamonds—again the volunteers and audience can clearly see 10 separate Aces of Diamonds. You close up this spread and give them to the woman, who also holds them in her hands, against her heart. Note that from this point on, you never touch the cards again! After a series of by-plays and funny bits, you then declare that you have now transferred 3 cards (bits of “love”) from the man’s pile to the woman’s. To prove this, the man himself now counts the cards one at a time onto the table. There are only 7 cards. The woman is now invited to count out her cards onto the table, and incredibly there are 13! As a stunning kicker, she herself picks up the 13 cards and spreads through them, showing them to the audience. Incredibly everyone will see that there are now 3 King of Spades mixed into her spread—they are interspersed between the 10 Aces of Diamonds! An amazing and baffling magical transposition with a fun and interactive presentation has just taken place! Important points to remember: * After the cards are introduced and counted out, the performer never has to touch them again! * At the end of the trick, the 3 Kings are actually interspersed separately within the spread of Aces. * No false counts or sleight-of-hand; completely self-contained. * Tons of opportunity for audience participation, ad-libs, and even some suggestive/risqué scripting! * Perfect for stage and parlor, but you can actually do “Kings Crossing” close-up as well! * Comes complete with 20 custom jumbo-sized cards, instructional DVD, and multiple bonus ideas and routines. Nice, but frankly, I found all of that squaring very irritating.

The very best stand-up Cards Across I've ever seen is the version perfomed by David Williamson. Now that's magic.

Hello all:
Thank you posting this Jean-Luc! Last summer, Nicolas Gignac approached me to produce his trick he'd been doing in his act for many years. The effect blew me away, and I even added it to my show---and I have also fooled every magician I've shown it to! Imagine a cards across....with JUMBO sized cards, and the ability to TELEPORT cards from one spectator to another----without any sleights, false counts or palming! And the best part is that you don't even touch the cards! I'm planning on a mid-November release Jason |

Can't the "squaring" be done -- gently, surreptitiously, nonchalantly -- in the hands, rather than "banging" the cards against the palm?

Hello all:
Yes Ted, the "squaring" can be done more gently, surreptitiously, nonchalantly, and anything else "ly" you would like! LOL! I never really thought about how I was squaring the cards in my performance until Larry made his "gentle, nonchalant" comment! Just kidding, Larry; I couldn't resist bud! lol My set that I was using for the footage was rather new and as a result hadn't really been "worked-in", if you catch my drift. I suppose that I was just being lazy and decided to "bang" the cards like that to square them up, instead of doing it in a more gentle manner. I don't think the spectators would ever even notice how you square the cards, but yes you can do it more gently and in a more subtle manner if you wish. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you! Jason |

Jason, sorry if I sounded harsh. I'll have to start drinking decaf.

LOL, I never noticed the "banging" before, but now that is all I see when I watch the trailer again! I guess it was just Jason's style; it does not scream that he is doing anything out of the ordinary. I am looking forward to this one . . .
It would really be quite tragic
if the world had to do without magic! |

After seeing this trick performed on a number of occasions by Jason, I had no idea how it was done. What sold it for me, was the fact that it used jumbo cards, no false counting and everything happens in the spectators hands. After a show, Jason showed me the workings of the trick and it was very clever! About a month or two later, I saw him perform the trick again and I was completely fooled, even though I had seen the trick before and knew the workings of it!
If you want something that will not only fool spectators, but magicians as wells, this is a must have effect! |

Jason:
Thanks so much for your wonderful & honest reply to all the comments about the "squaring" of the cards in the video. I undersdtand totally what you mean, and everything makes perfect sense as to what & why you were doing what you did. Nevertheless, it does not take away one iota from the really magical effect you have created! Thanks for sharing everything! TED |

Hello all:
All these "squaring" comments are making me VERY self-conscious about my performance! I may need some therapy after this. LOL! In the routine, I do this for two reasons: 1. I like my cards squared up. Doesn't matter what trick I'm doing (Poker cards or Jumbo cards), I like 'em neat! lol 2. As I said, the prototype set that I was using for the footage was rather new and as a result hadn't really been "worked-in", if you catch my drift. The 2 bits of footage were taped 1 week apart. The cards were very stiff and rather new, and like I mentioned above, I suppose that I was just being lazy and decided to "bang" the cards like that to square them up, instead of doing it in a more gentle manner. As I say, I don't think the spectators would ever even notice how you square the cards (but now you've got me all self-conscious!). But you can do it more gently and in a more subtle manner if you wish----especially as the cards "soften" over time. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you! Jason |
