Hello Café Members
I’m sorry that my first post on here is a political one, but I though all the buskers out there would be interested to hear this... The City of Melbourne in Australia is currently undergoing a Street Activity Review for all street-based activities that require a permit. This includes all general area and circle act busking permits. One of the biggest changes they’d like to make is the implementation of auditions for quality control. This would be on top of a health and safety review that all performers must pass. You can read all about it in the link below and they’d like to hear from permit holders and members of the public to find out what they think of the proposed changes. They’ve set up an online survey for people to fill out, and you have until Thursday 21 October 2010 to have your say. Melbourne is such a vibrant and diverse city for street entertainment, and attracts professional buskers from all over the world during the summer months. Whether you’re a busker yourself or just admire those who get out there and do it, I’m sure the bigwigs in the City of Melbourne would be interested to hear your views! It’s time to rally round I think! You can find out more and complete the survey by visiting http://www.melbourne.vic.gov.au/getinvolved and click on ‘Street Activity Review’ All the very best Gareth |
