Hey guys... we now have two spots left for the Magic Cruise 2010! Even though we had to release our block of unsold cabins a couple of months ago, we've made room for two more cabins. Yes, the cost is a bit higher than it was because everything is based on the cruise line's prevailing prices... but we can still get you in!
It all kicks off with a party/reception/evening at the Magic Castle on Saturday, November 6. Then the following day, we set sail on the gorgeous Carnival Splendor for a week-long cruise to the Mexican Riviera. We already have 160 people signed up... plus you'll enjoy magic, teaching, shows, lectures, etc. with Mark Kalin & Jinger, Shoot Ogawa, Chad Long, Bob Sheets, Rich Bloch, Christopher Hart, Chipper Lowell, Martin Lewis, Stan Allen, Danny Cole, and more! Check out the website... http://www.magiccruise2010.com. Keep in mind, the previously advertise price is no longer available, but you can still go. Call Joanne Weeks at 816-741-7417 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              816-741-7417      end_of_the_skype_highlighting for specific pricing depending on the type of cabin you choose. If you have other questions, you can call me at 816-233-4177. Best, David Sandy |

So, what's the deal on the Cruise? I just got a note that this is the Splendor that caught fire?

With the assumption that everyone will get back to dry land safely, I can hardly wait to hear (or read) the stories from the magi who are on board.

Michael Trixx from the Keys is on there and just posted on Facebook that all is well and they are being towed back to San Diego. Ed Hagins and Jim Lee from Myrtle Beach, SC on board, too.

Just imagine those other poor passengers. One hundred magicians staggering around saying "watch watch look look". It would be like night of the living dead w/out the blissful peace of having your brains eaten.

Curious how many people have jumped overboard rather than watch another 21 card trick.

I'd love to watch Bob Sheets working the totally free unlimited beer and wine bar... and as the ad states on page 61 of the September MAGIC magazine: "...and all the pampering service you can stand!" (it should have read "and all the SPAM you can stand!")

"I heard on the news that the Navy is lifting in food for the boat....Pop Tarts and Spam. Seriously. What a bummer " When my wife heard that, she said "I'm surprised you aren't *joining* the cruise now!" Haven't been able to reach any fellow magi I know were on the cruise... have heard radio reports that many people have dead cell phone batteries. I'm going to bring my solar charged battery on any cruise from now on! |

Cupertino? You ever go to the magic garage or to IBM? I'm wondering if I know you.
My wife is officially mad at ME because of that cruise ship. When I took her on a cruise 15 years ago and the ship broke down and we floated around and missed all the ports we only got 10 percent off another cruise, she heard everyone on this one gets a full refund. |

I would bet that it's the Magicians that are keeping the spirits high! They are lifting up many! That I am sure of... I would bet they all met up made a plan to divide up, and cover ground. Boosting Moral by working along side the crew to keep order. Which I would think to be most important. I would bet my life that some of what our guys are doing on that ship is playing a key role at keeping the many personalities on board in check. I know I would be quite upset. Vacations ruined and not going as planned. Some maybe not be able to take advantage of the free Cruise at a later date. So they are the ones most miserable and defiant. And the one most likely to stir trouble or be most angry. What a tough situation to be in. Toilets not working limited or no power at all... Really feeling for everyone on board! I am curious to see what they have to say when they safely make it back to port! My thoughts have certainly been with them and our Veterans the last couple of days. God bless both! I am sure the thoughts of many Magicians here on the Café are with you all too! Jason Ring

Right on Jason- all kidding aside- it was probably good that so magicians were on board to help folks pass the time... can't think of a better group of entertainers to be stranded with who could probably raise spirits without much preplanning or complex staging...

On Splendor: friends on board say that the media reports of hardships were somewhat exaggerated. One friend was being put up at a San Diego Marriott hotel last night. |

The local Washington DC TV had a short clip and interview with Rich Bloch as he arrived at the Washington airport from his cruise on the Good Ship Splendor. Not much was said that has not been in the papers.
