O.K. How about using a blade box and then exposing how its done. This is an old sideshow routine that they charge $1 to see how its done.
But with a youth group you can explain how things arent always how they appear in this life and that we need to be on guard not to be fooled. Anyone have experience with the blade box and a positive message? |

I do magic for my youth group as well. I would never expose a trick or gimmick just to make a point. Granted, I have no experience with the blade box, but I would think that there would be a way to get your message across, using the trick, without the exposure. Good luck!

I would still like to hear from anyone that has experience with the Blade Box.

Are you looking for a way to use the Blade Box in a Gospel Magic show, and can't think of a scripture to use with it?
(IMO) Maybe try searching for a scripture you may feel that the Lord is leading you to speak about, and then look for a trick that will help illustrate it. We can easily get caught up in trying to find a good excuse or reason for wanting to use a certain effect/illusion that may be contraversal, rather than search on our own for a biblical application/message we want to share, and then find a suitable illusion that will compliment the message in a visual way.

Hi Joe, I think that's a long way to go just to make the point "things always aren't how they appear in life." You can make that same point doing What's Next, or a dozen other visual illusion effects.
But if you just want to do the Blade Box, just do it. It would be a way to attract kids attention and maybe hold their attention while you teach. Then after your message, you can let them come up and look inside for the answer. |

Hi Joe,
I agree with Joe Marotta. There are loads of tricks you can use to illustrate that 'things aren't what they seem'. I often use Gene Anderson's newspaper trick where you cut out a semi-circle and unfold the shape to be a square, I thknk it's called squircle? go well, pete |
