I don't know if anyone else watches the marvellous program QI on BBC1?

One of the questions was “How do you know if you have a shrunken head”. The question was about having a genuine shrunken head and how you can tell if it is a genuine shrunken head from the Shuar tribe.

The actually went in to the method of production of a genuine shrunken head. It was rally very interesting and as it is QI it was also very funny!

I have spent time with the Jivaro and they are out of the buisness. There is a great collection in Seattle. Once you have seen a genuine head the gaffs are pretty easy to spot. Most people won't be able to tell. I have an animal skin gaff that most people accept as real (especially after I have them smell it). The Jivaro are a really cool people. I talked with a chief that explained how his grandfather shrunk heads. They themselves are quite repulsed at the practice now.

Talk on shrunken heads in London later this month. The shop and museum are well worth a visit too - right up our street!

Is them Jivaro's the ones that was in that movie "Cannibal Holocaust?"

To prove its the real deal,,,,take your head,,,then find a matching shrunken body,,,if the two fit exactly then you have the real thing.
