Hi all.
If some of you are working on that technique, if you don't mind, I'd like to talk with you. Would be nice to exchange tips I guess. Thanks. PS: Riffle like faro, not the one in the air. |

"PS: Riffle like faro, not the one in the air." got me slightly confused. You are referring to a faro done on the table, with the hands in a position similar to that of doing a table riffle, right?

Well, there are many way to "table faro". I'll post a video tomorrow about 4 or 5 methods I know.
About "the one in the air" I was talking about the one looking like the one described in Maskelyne's book, the oldest method known, the one that got his name from... the game faro itself . |

Here's a short video with 4 different techniques to perform a faro on the table.
http://www.arnoldmcdonald.org/code/main.php?p=6200000 Of course, there are more techniques possible! Very often, it depends the way you put the palms of the hands, if you have a setup, if you butt the halves of the deck or if you riffle for real, etc. The day I've got more time, I'll post more techniques, the one I'm using for instance. Hope you enjoy. |

Isn't a table faro is a thorough riffle shuffle?

It is what it is.
Not sure what the hell you're talking about though. |

Arnold - I think that your video was fantastic. I use the faro shuffle only once and a while.
Thanks again. Cheers!

Glenn, perhaps you should make an act based on how 52 in-faros retain a full deck order. I reckon this trick will only take 25 minutes or so to perform.
Just a thoughts and opinion. |

Sorry Maitre D - I already have an act - more than one act - and all of them have made real money - and have done so for many years.
You on the other hand - ???????? Cheers!

Maitre,
retaining full deck order after 52 faros would be surprising for those still awake, at least if it was shown that one started with a deck in that condition. Four shuffles more or less and it might appear boring. Regards, |

Nice Arnold. No I never used a break, just used a crimp or gaffed card and all of that to cut to in a faro .
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

It should get the same reaction of Glenn's punch demo.
*SNORE* "...w...wh...Huh? Oh, ahem, uhh... Oh, cool." *YAWN* I'm sorry. I'm only tempted to tease because of Glenn's repeated promises of discontinuing his posts at the Gambling Spot. What ever happened to that, Glenn? Your post on this thread was tolerable but you continue to gouge the eyes of readers of other threads. |

(as I'm sure you already know) A 'riffled/table faro' looks like a riffle shuffle but the card are also perfectly weaved. Does that answer your question? |

Ignore my above posts and let's discuss faro shuffles with breaks.
So far I can only get it consistent with the "Maskelyne" type faro. Personally, I have found that when possible, I try to stack the cards in such a way that the packet below the break does not need a card from the faro weave to be added on-top. This is because as a result of the break being held, sometimes a card will not be woven between the two packets, thus whenever possible I try not to rely on it happening. Lately I have been playing with doing the riffled table faro with a break being held by the 4th finger on the end of the cards near the corner. This leaves my thumbs free to do the riffling action. I can't hit it too often but if I can get it consistent, the illusion of the clean riffle and cut should be killer. |
