I did a search for any reviews here, but came up empty.
Anyone tried this effect yet (by Jay Sankey)? Looked kinda fun on the video demo. What's the real world response like? Brian |

I have one for sale. PM me. The effect gets laughs, and can be fun with the appropriate patter. It doesn't fit my act, but can be a highlight of your show.

I have this, and made it to look like my truck. It looks great, and took me along time to make them, but then I am a perfectionist.

It is okay even good but Drawn Out is ten times better in that you don't have to push on the surface of the card to make it move.

The only problem with Drawn Out is they have to be at least 3 feet away.

Haha... three feet away is fine, I never ever perform for a guy one foot away. It's too close.

I watched the Video and made some up. (about 30-40 mins each)
Got some realy good reactions from it and was quite suprised at how everyone kept talking about it. Nice one Jay. |

Is Drawn Out the rising card on the back of a card? It wouldn't make sense to make the card rise by using your hand to pull it out, but in One Car Garage it is logical to pull with your fingers. You are animating the drawing as if it was real.

Wayman...what video was this on?
|

It was on a dealers web site.
Lost the link now. |

I would assume you saw it on our site, as I don't know of any other site where there's a video. Either way, it's funny to me that you said "Nice One, Jay" and yet you did not buy the item...simply "lifted" the idea from a video demo!
No hard feelings..but I felt the need to point out the irony! Best Wishes, Paul Richards Elmwood Magic |

I like the effect, and made several of them at the Magic Shop where I used to work. Solid effect, nice premise.

I get a great reaction from this trick. It is something I use when the time is right.

You may be the only one with a video demo, but your not the only dealer. If I believe an effect is usable then I will buy it (even if its just for the proper handling) and give credit. No hard feelings taken, and I failed to see the irony. have a nice day. |

Wayman:
I’m not looking for some sort of online argument..but your post said: "I watched the Video and made some up." The product (as sold for nearly four years) comes complete with a silk screened and die cut card...there is nothing to make. There was no mention of a purchase EVER made. The line goes from I "watched the video" directly to "made some up". If one was purchased, your post certainly did not imply that. Thus to the reader...especially a reader who is the producer of the effect ...the compliment to Jay seemed a little ironic! Best Wishes, Paul Richards Elmwood Magic |

Some sort of online argument was not offered.
I saw the effect as a puzzle that needed solving. Yes I watched the video and made a gimmicked card (from 3 bicycles) that achieved the same effect. I also bought the effect just to see if my version was an improvement in design "and" for the suggested handling. Quote:
you did not buy the item... You cant go around publicly accusing people of things you cant possibly have any knowledge of. The only thing I have lifted was my quilt You instantly jumped on me with the assumption that because "no purchase was mentioned by me", that I didn't make one. Thats Wrong. I didn't mention it because there was no need. I have a wealth of Jay Sankey material, all of which I like and use, does that IMPLY that I did not buy it? No-one else has mention purchasing the product, Are you going to publicly challenge them...I think not. If you have anything else to say please be nice enough to PM me and I will be glad to help. No hard feelings, but I needed to clear this up. |

Truely, I don't care for any of Jay products. I buy them, and then I see them explained on a Video Tape later on! that's not Cool.

I also prefer his videos over his products.

Sorry, Wayman, but Paul Richards is correct. Your post ("I watched the Video and made some up.") certainly makes it sound like you made something you didn't buy. Hey, I drew the same conclusion.
Your replies could have been more explanatory and less inflamatory. After two posts, it's still a little unclear exactly <what> you did, which is a result of your posts not expressing your thoughts clearly enough for us readers to understand. It's not really fair to get huffy with Mr. Richards just because your typing didn't reflect or explain your thinking. Steve H ps: I'd say that generally you're going to take some heat if you're almost bragging about taking someone's marketed idea and reverse engineering it. YMMV
Like Bonnie Raitt said, "I miss Little Feat more than I miss being 8 years old." Thanks for the concerts + recordings, Lowell, Richie, and Paul!
