But, I was asked to do a magic show at my family Christmas party. I want to do some Christmas themed effects. The reason I want to know what I am going to do so early is I want a lot of time to practice, and tweak my show. The party is a week before Christmas. What are some ideas?
Rules for effects: I will be performing them in a living room so parlour type effects. I don't want to buy too much. They can be variations of other effects. (i.e. a christmas tree with red lights and D'lites to make them appear) Or they can be Christmas effects Thanks in advance! -Teed |

Rope tricks with ribbon, or ring-and-rope with ribbon.
Actually, it's not very early at all. If you don't already have routines lined up, you will have quite a bit of practice and routining to do before you're ready for the show. That takes time, which means now is a good time to start. Best of luck, Bill |

How about hanging a few sponges balls on the tree as Christmas ornaments? Take them off and do a sponge ball routine1

Just my opinion, but I would not theme a whole act fashioned to Christmas, Forth of July, Cinco de Mayo, etc. It seems to me - I don't know diluting the magic? At least one or two routines, but everything else should be kept as it was meant to be maybe. Since it's family, having fun is the goal, do the act as Santa, do bill in the roll at the dinner table, perhaps visit the Gospel magic section called "The Good News" section on this forum. Miser's dream from the just finished egg nog from your mug?

Create an animated deck with a Christmas theme get custom made Christmas-themed playing cards aren't too expensive mini Christmas tree production and/or vanish
have everything themed ie. green and red playing cards (turn red deck into green), colored ropes, ribbons, sponges, things like that. |
