Got it - Love it! It's super thin and made with a soft leather. The DVD is really excellent. I'm selling my original Penguin version. Buy this, you won't be sorry!

I got the wallet this week. I really like it. The wallet fits very nicely in my back pocket. The effect taught on the dvd are great the version of Whack your Pack and the drivers license effect are terrific. It is now my everyday wallet. Well done

Do you have to fold U.S. bills in order for them to fit into the bill compartment?

Yes, that is correct, they need to be folded in half.
The wallet is excellent quality. I've loved performing with it so far. Like Deputy said, "version of Whack your Pack and the drivers license effect are terrific," I've tried combining it with pocket witting, a la Banacheck(psi series), and it is a killer. I love it! Oz Pearlman has a routine in into the abyss that I have not tried, but I highly recommend. |

Usually by the time I buy something, there are pages of reviews but surprisingly, there hasn't been much comment on this since the pre sale hype so I thought it'd be worth adding my thoughts.
I have been using the original Mullica for years and love it but always felt it was too large to feasibly belong to a 31 year old who would ordinarily not carry such a large wallet. However, I tried the alternatives including the jol plus wallet, penguin hip pocket Mullica and triple threat but never really got on with them well enough to part company with the original. So I used that and the real mans wallet in my act. Having received the slim Mullica, I can say that I am ready to use this instead. Anyone one familiar with a Mullica will have no issues adapting to this. Whilst it is smaller, it's not too small and provides the relevant cover that I think helps avoid flashes. The zip also adds another level of deception which I like. That said; I won't be using this as my everyday wallet as it's not got enough slots and without using the inner wallet, has no where for my coins. However I don't think this is an issue personally and you could use it everyday if you only carried notes and a few cards. The DVD has some nice tricks on it and is well presented. Nothing particularly revolutionary. The drivers license trick for instance is very good but uses and old principle which I've seen David Williamson use years ago....and no doubt others before this. In my mind for the cost the DVD is something of a bonus and does show you how to work the wallet, so it does every thing it should. To summarise, I think anyone that knows and loves the Mullica will love it, as will anyone who is looking for a nice no palm wallet. One other thing is that you can use this as a palm wallet, albeit it in a rather unorthodox way. I love it and will be ordering a spare. |

I received my wallet today. I have a few things to say about it:
1- Why does it have to be so long? You can easily hide a card or anything smaller under a regular men's size wallet. 2- Not to insult those who designed this thing, but why on earth is there not a little wall at the edge of the bill section to prevent the bills from sliding out? It should be sealed up to about halfway up the side. Seems kind of stupid that it isn't that way. My Extreme Burn package is always moving around, which is not that big a deal, but it's a small detail that would have solved this little issue. I guess you could cut the slit to be bigger and so closer to the edge where it folds. 3- I've had to play around with getting the item to slide directly into the slit with no problems. I found a technique, but nothing of the sort was even covered on the dvd. All he says is make sure you pull back and then push forward to get it in. Well, the inner wallet actually doesn't allow you to do that very well because when you pull back enough to get it to clear the slit, you actually flash the card from under the wallet! Like I said though, I found a way around it, but it should have been covered. 4- This isn't anything against the wallet or anything about the entire package. I just wish there were more effects that I could use this without having any preparation or any extra things. I know you can produce large items from the wallet, but I don't care too much for that. I'm interested in making random things disappear and appear inside the wallet. The problem is, how do you make it disappear and then load it in the wallet? It's not really practical in that sense. Basically what I'm saying is, if you just have your wallet on you, you can't really do much with it unless you have a deck of cards or a large item you want to produce. I'm not using my business cards because I don't write on them nor do I fold them up. Any ideas? All in all, the wallet is great, should last me a long time but a few of the things mentioned above leave me clueless. |

Use a fingertip to vanish an object and then to reproduce the object, simply pull it off your right finger, unzip the zipper with your right hand and pull the item from within the inner wallet, straight out of the fingertip. by pulling the object out of the fingertip as it is lying directly under the inner wallet. As you close the zipper and get ready to fold up the inner wallet again, replace the fingertip on your right finger and you're back in starting position. I think this is the most practical and cleanest way to use the wallet. Just imagine: Borrow a bill, have them sign it or remember the serial number, vanish it cleanly with empty hands, take your wallet with empty hands and inside the wallet there is another wallet and inside that wallet there is a zippered compartment and inside of there is their bill. You're instantly reset. Beautiful.
You can use bills instead of driver's licenses for License to Astonish. Simply borrow a bill and have them remember the last four digits of the serial number, fold it and have them hold onto it. Tell them you have another bill of another denomination inside your wallet. You go to the inner wallet and pull out the denomination that the spectator was supposedly holding. He opens his hand to find a bill of the denomination you were supposedly keeping in your wallet. You unfold the bill that was in the wallet and it has the same serial number as their bill, because it is theirs. Works with Canadian bills as well because of a special method I came up with for another effect I came up with about a year ago for Canadian bills. |

It's a shame you can't load cards into the Photo ID section of this wallet. When I first read 'License to Astonish', after their ID has changed into your own, the natural place for theirs to be would be in the ID window section of your wallet (where yours once was), however it seems to go into the zippered compartment instead. Still, its a great routine and it does seem like a very nice wallet. I may have to give this a try.

I re looked at the DVD. I think the chap on it is a lefty so for me (a eighty) it's easier to put inner wallet the other way round to the way suggested.

Overall, great, practical stuff. I've been using a Mullica wallet for the past 20 years. It's always been the one I come back to over and over again. I started, of course, with the original, which a more formal wallet for the inside pocket of a gentleman's coat and, therefore, a bit longer than this new crop. I then gravitated to the hip-pocket size when it was on the market a few years ago.
I will say that I much prefer the original Mullica handling of the wallet to what is taught on this DVD. Unfortunately, that handling was not included. It's worth your time to look it up. I believe Eugene Burger also teaches it. The wallet is nice, but it seems the previous version of this hip-pocket style was a nicer, softer leather. Mine is, anyway.
It's all in the reflexes.

The gold zipper makes your eyes go right to it. I had never heard of doing that before. Sooooo clever. Made me smile and break out a Tommy Wonder book.
I have the other hip pocket wallet designed by Tim Trono. I have always preferred producing the signed card folded. It's easier and I think more amazing that the card is folded, IMHO. Chris

I guess a folded card would be easy to Load with less chance of a flash. I'm too lazy personally to go to the effort Of folding.

I always fold doing card to wallet. A very neat perfectly folded playing card in an impossible location is so easy to hide, and the suspense of unfolding creates a nice moment. But that is just my opinion.

Having used the previous incarnation of the Hip-Pocket Mullica for the last few years, I was very interested in this version, which arrived today.
For me there are two details which make this version superior. Firstly, the Tommy Wonder idea of using a brass zip, and secondly, the zip is a quarter inch closer to the spine of the inner wallet. This makes a huge difference in removing the card from the wallet. The DVD is aimed at adolescent beginner magicians who no doubt will be doing pathetic jokes about "pulling down my golden zipper". It covers a number of routines, but the basic handling taught is inferior to Tom Mullica's original handling which had an extra layer of deception built in. Do check out Eugene Burger's handling on his DVD, as the "Burger" version taught here butchers it. Even if you use the basic handling taught by Joe Russell on the DVD, please do not place the inner wallet back on top of the outer wallet. Simply place the outer wallet under your arm or on the table. It is more elegant and much cleaner theatrically. I've already made a couple of changes/additions to this Super Slim wallet to suit my handling and routines, and if you want to make changes to yours, such as holding Extreme Burn gimmicks in place, then check out Jeremy Weiss's Wallet Killer http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=15 I am very pleased with this and would love to see a deluxe version - exactly the same but made of a superior quality leather. |

It seems this DVD is hard to find unless you buy a package: http://www.elmwoodmagic.com/full/DVD-The......2112.htm I perform Eugene's handling every week. He goes over in detail all aspects of the Mullica with an additional handling from David Parr. There is some nice live footage of Eugene performing CTW.
