I have just aquired and started to play with this great wallet.Would be interested to know whose CTW routine and handling most people use with the wallet.

I recently bought the SSHPMW and am very pleased with the quality of the construction, the leather used, ease of use and supplied routines (apart from the handling being for a left hander).
The gold zip works well. I prefer it to my other Mullica wallets. The routine I use is the one from Mentzer's The Card To Wallet book, an excellent resource for everything CTW. Have any other owners spotted the additional benefit of the wallet yet? It's to do with the type of leather used.

I had a Super Slim and sold it. I preferred Tony's version better. The leather looked nicer and you didn't see the marks in the leather mentioned above by Brad Burt. I also didn't care for the gold zipper. It just looked out of place. Having both at the same time it was easier to compare.

I had a close look at Tony's at Blackpool. I felt it was too thick to be kept in the hip pocket. I preferred the simpler design of the sshpmw. I also preferred the gold zipper to create a clear point of focus.
Having said that Tony's mw was still a nice wallet. I ended up buying his TT wallet instead.

Just road tested the wallet for the first time using the signed card routine on the DVD followed by the eight ball production.Superb reaction and delighted with the usage.I can't see how any other wallet can improve this version of CTW.Fully recommended.

Quote: While the Super Slim may be slimmer than Tony's wallet, his is still fine in terms of thickness for hip pocket wallet. As far as the zipper goes, it looks odd and draws more attention to it being a magic wallet, instead of an ordinary one.On 2012-06-16 12:04, Jamie Ferguson wrote:

If you use your own coins, they think they are "trick coins", even if you let them examine them. Your own deck? Yep, trick deck ( which is why Harry Lorayne ALWAYS stipulated that two decks, one red, one blue, be provided ). The diabolical Kennedy Mystery Box? You got it-they think it's tricked up. A non gaffed wallet will be thought to be tricked up. It's the nature of many that are being amazed, that they search for answers.
It's good to see magicians are passionate about the props they use. It is funny to see Magicians looking for the "white whale" of wallets. They buy one, use it and the audience is amazed. And then they buy the next new wallet. The wallet YOU like, for whatever reason, is the right wallet. |

Me, I just try to design wallets that meet needs. Either my own or those of others. I do believe that the wallet should NOT attract attention.

I performed card to wallet today. Their eyes went right to the gold zipper. Tommy Wonder, a true creative genius, was correct about adding a gold zipper.
I'm not a "buy a new wallet each week" hobbyist. I just want the best wallet for the classic effect. The Super Slim Hip Pocket Mullica is my choice. I have it loaded with credit cards, cash and some special pet tricks and It stays slim. |

I just received mine. However I believe it has a manufacturing defect. When I open the wallet (not the inner one) there is a noticeable sound of material unsticking from glue.
Upon close examination, I determined that the black "polyester?" material, all along the fold, unglues itself from the adhesive which has been applied to glue it to the leather when I open the wallet since it stretches out the material. I have heard many reviews about the quality of the wallet, and I am not sure this is supposed to happen. Does anyone else have this problem? |

I'm not sure I totally understand what you mean but the lining of my wallet is nice and flat and does not appear to move in any way.
If I were you I would contact your dealer all the ones I have seen have been very good. I have also supplied quite a few with no problems. Good price and free UK delivery here: http://www.paulharrispresents.co.uk/card......ono.html

What is the Clue about this Slim Wallet? Sorry I don't get it. Is there a need to use
smaller cards? Is this from Tom Mullica? Or PH or Tommy Wonder or Tim Trono?

I have had mine 2 years now as my daily wallet and it still looks and holds great. I just pulled the card liners out. They eventually got in the way, but by then I had made the wallet indent around everything; so it holds it all just fine.

Loki, are you referring to the 'extra benefit' Jamie Ferguson suggested? Is is possibly an option for a pe*k?

Just received mine and I'm impressed. I wasn't sure if I'd be bugged by the gold zipper, but I find it much more tasteful than I had expected. Nice leather, too - I own a ton of leather wallets, notepads and bags, and I don't find this wallet to look "plasticky" at all (and I've passed on some other wallets such as the Telethoughts based on the quality of the leather).
A couple of ideas I'm playing with: * driver's licence switch - Rather than presenting the routine as a "memory test", it could be done (comically or otherwise) in the context of the spectator having been hypnotized earlier (and therefore not remembering having already traded licenses). Thanks to Jamie D. Grant for his inspiration: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......um=175&0 * producing a large object - Tell spectator that wallet is so thin that if it's viewed at the correct angle it's not visible. Hold wallet vertically and slowly turn until it's at its thinnest in the spectator's view, and state that the wallet should now be invisible. When spectator says that she/he can still see the wallet, look puzzled, examine wallet, state that it does look a little thicker than usual, then produce the "large object". Focusing attention on the wallet while turning it provides good misdirection for st%^&*ng the object.

Just got mine today. I have been looking for a wallet that can replace my Mesika's Wallet. I was happy with my old wallet, been using it for 4 years. Over time it got really old and ugly. So I went out and bought the S.S.H.P.M.W. The wallet's quality is a little bit disappointing. It does not hold as much stuff as my old one. Overall the quality of the wallet is alright, however despite the quality factor this is an awesome wallet. The load is easy and fast. There are many things you can do with this wallet. Couple of ideas that I'm playing with, using it as a peek and producing prediction billets.. The DVD has some interesting ideas, some of the tricks are definitely keepers.
In conclusion this wallet is fun to use and perform. It is now my everyday wallet. |

On 2012-06-19 15:38, Doomo wrote: Hey guys, I'm still new around the forums but I thought I would leave a detailed review on the Hip Hop Wallet by Tim Trono. I also have the Badger (well, my friend has it - but he has lent it to me for the past week and I really had several days of extreme practice with it). I received my SSHHMW roughly 3-4 days ago and just one difference between this and the Badger. The SSHHMW kicks ass. Let me go into a bit more on the details on both wallets. This may be arguable, but I think the gold zipper idea from T.W was much better than using a standard zip. People want to be attracted to something and once they are, the heat is on the zipper and the inside. This means you can do whatever you want behind the wallet or wherever you want and no one will question you. As soon as I open the wallet, people (friends and family) all go "No way, it can't be in there..". That is what gets the best reactions and having a standard normal black zipper will just lead to the audience going "Mmm... carry on".. and it doesn't add to the effect in my opinion. Again, I believe here we are allowed to express our views and I think the SSHHMW beats the Badger in every possible aspect possible. Now, let's talk more about the SSHHMW. Quality: The quality of the SSHHMW is actually fantastic that I have indeed gone ahead and used it as my main wallet. I sit on trains a lot every day, cars, buses, running around football pitches etc and it works well as a wallet. I am only 16 so I may not have a lot of stuff to put in it, apart from debit cards and gym membership cards but for me, this wallet is perfect to use as an every day wallet. My only issue is that there are no change slots but that's fine, I can keep it in my pocket so that's not really a big deal. The quality is very good, so not sure why other people are complaining.. but to me, my wallet is very fine, which is why I use it as my main wallet. In comparison to the Badger, this wallet is very light. I find the badger to be really bulky and it does indeed look like the type of wallets you purchase at the city centre in those dodgy corner stalls for £1-2. It doesn't look that good. Sure, it may have good features, but hey - so does the SSHHMW AND it is loaded with good features too. So in terms of quality, the SSHHMW gets an easy win. Ease of use: I have used the Badger more than I have used the SSHHMW but I already love the SSHHMW. Sure, you do not need to make "contact" with the deck but there are several ways you can misdirect your audience. I did this once to a family group who came over and this was my routine. (Note - I did not try it with the Badger due to the fact that I felt nervous using it, simply because it wasn't as good). Again, don't flame me for giving my opinion. This is a thread about the SSHHMW and seeing as other people talked about the Badger, I should be able to talk about it too. My routine - Spectator picks any card in the deck, and signs it. After signing it, the card is lost back in the deck and shuffled by me. I tell them that I now need my mobile phone, so reach into my pocket, take out the wallet first and position that, and then take out the phone. I hand the phone out and put the wallet back. The impression they get is that my pocket was tight so I had to take both items out. I was wearing tight jeans so this was a perfect way to do it. They only see the wallet for literally 2-3 seconds and then its gone (and the move is already done too). I then tell them that phone will help me find their card. I have a dice app on my phone so I tell them to roll a number on the dice and we multiply that by 4. For example, if it was 3 - it would be 12. I then count down 12 cards and reveal it to be.... not their card. I then say, you know what - let me show you another trick. I take my wallet out and inside are a couple of £10 notes and I say, if this fails again, you get this whole stack of money. I take the second wallet out and do the "move" while they are focussed on the money. I hand the wallet out (the main one) and they hold it, and they can examine if need be. I then say to them to think of the same card they picked from the previous trick. I tell them that there is no way in hell that inside this compartment is their signed card, but I later tell them that the previous day I had loaded a card from another deck into here and I ask them if it would be cool it the card that was in the wallet was the card they signed (same suit, same number, etc). They say "yeah". I then open the zipper (excellent gold zipper idea) and let them pull out the card halfway. I then say, hold on - take that deck and just take your card out so we can verify the suit are the same. They go through the deck and to their surprise, their card isn't there. I then reveal it to be in the wallet. This works well for me because they truly forget that I even took the wallet near the deck because of all the things happening after that such as the failure in the trick, the money in the wallet, and the gold zipper. They truly forget. This routine gives me great reactions and its very fun to do. So, ease of use, the SSHHMW gets another easy win. Size: I have to admit, the Badger could have won this if it was less bulky and less cheap looking. The SSHHMW is quite big as Im a young guy but it will definitely suit the more professional magicians. But anyway, it does fit into my pockets, but some people do state that its a big wallet. But no big issue here. Maybe they could make it smaller, but apart from that, again, the SSHHMW wins this round. Price: The SSHHMW wins. Well worth the price. DVD: The DVD is well taught. You have over 2 hours of content, with some humour and some kids jokes. There are some parts which you know will suit a group of children, but apart from that, the teaching is very clear and concise. There are some great routines including Paul Haris' ID switch. I don't have a drivers licence so I tried this with bank cards (Bank of scotland ones) and it did killers, especially as we were near a bank ATM. The SSHHMW wins here without a doubt. Great clear DVD with some good ideas and routines by both magicians. Overall, the SSHHMW wins easily in my opinion. There are absolutely no major issues with it. This is my first actual wallet purchase and I am glad it is amazing. I have tried others on the market and because I hate palming, this one is the best for me. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to message me. If you are looking for a no palm, good quality wallet - then you must buy the SSHHMW. Avoid all others because in my opinion, they're dull. The SSHHMW goes that extra mile and has some great features, INCLUDING the gold zipper. EDIT: I just realised I forgot the P in "S.S.H.P.M.W".. but you guys know what I mean anyway. Secondly, sorry for such a long post. |
