Up the Ante.
More of a full routine masquerading as a "trick," depending on how you choose to script it.
"Is there any point to which you would wish to draw my attention?"
"To the curious incident of the dog in the night-time." "The dog did nothing in the night-time." "That was the curious incident," remarked Sherlock Holmes. |

I used to do this effect many years ago (circa 1971) to specs and it never ceased to amaze whomever I presented it to. It is completely sleightless and can be found in John Scarne's book "Scarne On Card Tricks" on page 129 (#92) and is called "The Quickie Card Trick". It used to be a favorite card trick of the late great comedian and clever amateur magician, Milton Berle. It is completely impromptu and can be done anytime, anywhere & with a borrowed deck if the need arises. It may not be the "best" but it ranks as one of the best as far as entertaining aspects are considered IMHO...
BTW, the aforementioned book is a great source for "self working" effects. Look here at http://www.lybrary.com/scarne-card-tricks-p-590.html for an $8 PDF of the book... Cardamagically, Dom ![]() ![]()

Toss up between Lorayne's Poker Deal, Lazy Man's Card Trick or Untouched. All are great and hard to beat.
