Hello all. I am new here at the Magic Café. I have been performing magic for about 4 years (close up). I am happy that I found this forum and have so far gained in knowledge of gospel magic. I am going to start putting on shows soon (hopefully) for my youth group. So I will appreciate any advice possible. Thanks. God bless

Hello Josiah, welcome to the Magic Café and welcome to the small bunch of us that attempt to use magic as a tool to deliver a message also !!!
I hope you don't get discouraged by the number of replies vs. views to your self-introductory post here. I look forward to reading your posts and wish you well in your efforts. Please feel free to share or request any help before your first gospel type of performance for your youth group! That's exciting! GlenD

Hey there Josiah,
Good to see you here. Like Glen mentioned there is a large ratio of people who read the posts compared to those who respond. Just my two cents worth of advice on your first show. Have fun and don't put yourself under too much pressure. You don't have to have the most spiritual show first up, (although you may already have that, I'm not sure). For me until I got over the first hump of not making a bunch of mistakes and flashing etc, I just tried to have fun and let the magic have an impact on those watching. JoJo

Thanks guys. Right now I'm just toying with a few close up effects and trying to put a few good routines together. It's not going to be anything big. Just a little demonstration. If you have any suggestions I would appreciate it. Thanks again. God bless

Josiah,
Welcome, I trust you will find the Café a great place to fellowship with other magi. I can only recommend that you practice, practice, practice, until you believe you are ready to perform for others, then practice some more. If you are going to use this art to help others learn about God then you need to FIRST make sure the magic is a good as you can possibly make it. The message is already set, you need to deliver it properly, with as much entertainment, fun, and magic as possible. Remember you are performing for God, and He deserves your best. I’ll get off my soap box now and encourage you to do as much performing as you can, and don’t forget to have fun. BTW, where in KY?, I went to college in Louisville. Good luck, |

Way back in 1976 I went to school in Louisville. I was a bus pastor at Beth Haven Baptist Church in Valley Station, my bus route was in Ft Knox. I used to get to E-Town alot. I was back there a couple of years ago and could not beleive all the change. But then again I was a young slim good looking man back then, now I'm an ugly old fat grandpa. I guess the only thing that never changes is change.
God Bless and welcome again. |
