I am not sure where to post this, as Etienne has written extensively on diverse topics. Does anyone have insight into his whereabouts?
It has been some time since he made an appearance and more than a few Café members are concerned.

Sorry,
I had big problem with one of my companies where the chairman stole the money and put the company in bankruptcy. I tried and save the 550 people's employment but without success but it took months of works and efforts... in vain

So sorry to hear about this, Etienne...and sorry for the workers who lost their jobs.
We sometimes forget that a man of your prodigious magical knowledge is actually a businessman...how do you balance that with your study of magic? Good to see you back in the Café!

I know what your were going through. A very close friend of mine here in the U.S. had the same thing happen... it isn't easy and takes every bit of your time and effort.
I hope you are sorted out and can get back to your normal life.

Thank you all for your concern. There are many common aspect between magic and business: you give your best, prepare as much as you possibly can, and deliver the show. It doesn't really matter how it works, what counts is the experience you gained and the journey rather than the result. Thus after the show, good or bad, you start working at the next (better) show: for me this is what life is about. Never give up and try and become a better person (in family, magic, business...) without offending other human beings but rather in helping them blooming.
It's not the size of the result that counts, but how intensely we work at surpassing our short comings during the journey.

Very well said, and very true. In life we have put our trust in others. Unfortunately, some of these folks let us down along the way. I join with all my confreres here in commiserating with you over your recent setbacks. I'm sure that it will only be for a short time and that you will emerge from this unhappy experience stronger than ever before. That is my wish and the wish, I am sure, of all your admirers and well-wishers here.
Best wishes, Fortasse |

I'm sorry to hear it did not work out. I'm not a big fan of greed. That thief was shallow and short sighted.

No disrespect for anyone else here, I have learned from many people, and some of the regular commenters and teachers here are masters.
But the value of The Magic Café, at least for me, went way back up when Lawrence O began posting again. Very sorry for your trouble, cher Maitre. May such problems never trouble again, and leave you the leisure to challenge us with your magical thinking. Sincerely, Woland |

For me magic was almost dead untill I began exploring The Magic Café a few years ago. I live in a little country with a very limited tradition for magic in TV and entertainment.
To preserve my new knowledge I started copying interesting posts and wise comments from a lot of different threads and pasted them into several new text documents on my computer for later reference. These texts now constitute a little library with valuable ideas and references to a lot of topics. I soon discovered that a surprising high fraction of my copied treasures came from one and the same source: Lawrence O! Before long I will have an entire book written by him. It just needs some editing. (And it is not for sale!) I will go as far as saying: Even if you choose to only read posts from Lawrence O on the Café you will get the cream of the art. Thank you so much! Troels |
