I am curious to see if there are any other forums that cater for ventriloquists?
The only other one I have seen is Bellytalkers, but that does not seem to work anymore. Cheers! Carl |

Carl,
There is currently Worldvents, which has been around for over ten years, and it's communication is strictly limited to e-mail. Unfortunately most of its members simply lurk in the background due to all the arguing and un-related content. Bellytalkers was created twice, and was the only true "Forum" for Ventriloquists(based on the format of Magic Café). We had a membership of about 150. Support was at first exciting, but the majority of Vents seemed to shy-away from the newer technology as offered. Postings declined to almost zero, and the site was literally "killed" a few months ago. It was costing too much to keep it going. Magic Café' has been a great forum for Vents that are serious about communicating with each other, even though it is a Magic based forum. Every time I sit at my computer, I think of re-starting Bellytalkers once again. I have some ideas, but will hold off for now.

Worldvents can be good when it stays on topic. I have met some great people there who I in turn met in person at the Venthaven convention.
Sorry Bellytalkers didn't take off. Just not sure what happened there.

Why don't we decide to stay here? It works and you know where to find us.

The problem with ventriloquist forums is that you are never sure if you are talking to the ventriloquist or a dummy.

I used to post on Belly talkers and I admit I was sad when it "closed" because there are not many women here on this forum and I often feel intimidated by all you professionals, but I have been reading for quite some time and have appreciated all I learn here. So I decided to be brave and say HI!

I thought there was another forum site out there for vents, but I've kind of given the vent stuff a rest the past few years and I couldn't remember the name of it. I tried finding it through google, but now I know why I couldn't find it.....
This one seems to be doing well though.

Hi Blueshawk1 ( Dave ) nice to see you back after your hiatus. There is also the Ventriloquist Central forum but it too has not been very active as of late. I think the advent of Facebook as a social network really took everyone away from the specialised forums. Most of us are friends on facebook but I do like this forum.

Thank you. Guess I'm one of the holdouts, not interested in the whole Facebook thing, I tried it briefly because of my sister, but quickly realized it wasn't something I wanted to get wrapped up in.

I too am not enammered with Facebook and post very little there myself but Ventriloquist Central group posts all the time. I too like a smaller group setting this forum offers.

I'm completely enamored with Facebook; and all the other social network sites. MySpace, Twitter, and DesperateLoser.com. But I "grew up" on the internet posting in forums. The Café is a nice comfortable forum. I always feel like I'm going to offend someone on WorldVents, and the format is awkward now, that there are other formats available.
Regarding Facebook, it's a great place to meet other vents and comedians, and it allows a deeper networking and friendship building venue. There are a few groups there worth posting in. But, aside from posting comments and having a discussion of different vents' blogs; I'm enjoying my new visits to The Café. Dave
I live on Facebook. Come visit me, I get lonely.
