Innocent question: do Gospel magicians ever perform a Halloween theme or is it incongruous with the faith of a devout Christian?

Thank you.

"That was the curious incident," remarked Sherlock Holmes.

Ya know, Panlives, I wanted to ask the same question. Really, I should add:

Is a Halloween theme, leaving out the ghosts/goblins and scary stuff, and just keeping the festive season appropriate, by say, using a color-coordinated act OK?

Like using black and orange silks, and pumpkin decorated props, and moon and stars decorated stuff, leaving out the cemeteries, undead, "boo!"-type stuff?

I don't know. Gospel Magic is a special genre. I, myself, would be very careful in that area.

Thoughts, everyone? My thanks as well!

I'll be performing at a school district Halloween event, but I won't theme my show - I'm just doing my regular Comedy Kid-Show (the school district knows that I'm not theming it and just keeping it fun)

I probably wouldn't do a Halloween theme - I never have.

I think it's really a personal/church preference. Our church does Trunk or Treat every year. It's a bunch of cars with their trunks decorated with people handing out candy. As it's a community outreach event we don't put restrictions on people coming in costumes. I probably wouldn't do a seance but I'm not above putting foam grave markers in the back of my truck or in my act. The color themed props are a good idea too.

To each their own. Go with what you're comfortable with and what you perceive your client to want. We could debate the theology of whether or not to acknowledge/celebrate Halloween, but it's the customer that's going to decide, based on their beliefs.

I don't think any truly devout person should celebrate Halloween as that means more candy for me Smile

I Totally agree with you Payne. I Think it's inappropriate for a Servant of GOD. IMO jamiedoyle's approach is a good one. See you!!!

In my simple opinion, a New Born Christian should not celebrate the halloween!!
But, he may use the halloween to share the Gospel...

There are many ways to do it with out making part of a halloween celebration.

Ask God for Knowledge in that.

Remember what is written in 1 Corint 10:11.

In Jesus

We did a Halloween alternative in a park with a stage where all were welcome to a family friendly show.
We had 4 magicians, costume contest, food, games & prizes!

It went very well!
Christians & non Christians both showed up.
