I bought the performace vest from bob solari magic well this is a must for every table hopping or strolling performer. This beautifully constructed black velvet, satin lined vest has 76 pockets of various sizes on the outside and inside. These pockets will hold a wide variety of items such as, spring flowers, silks, ropes, ribbons, thimbles, spongeballs, thumbtips, die tube, coins, nail writers, single cards, decks of cards, dice, knives, paddles...well, you get the idea! You can hold a whole act and then some in this vest. Designed to give many years of service. I used the vest this weekend for the first time. The vest is awesome everything is in its place where and when I need it TOTAL AWESOME!!!!

Like Bonnie Raitt said, "I miss Little Feat more than I miss being 8 years old." Thanks for the concerts + recordings, Lowell, Richie, and Paul!

Man, I tell you: Bob Solari has REALLY been hitting on all cylinders the past few years!!
His face isn't really this long in-person!

Why would you need that many pockets though. I usually bring no more than 12 effects and spend all night performing them. I would only use 1/5th of the pockets. I guess if I were to fill more of them up I would feel like I was wearing a flack jacket. Maybe that would be a great thing for some of the audiences I have had in the past. The price is a small price to pay for that type of versatility. Thanks for sharing.

It costs some extra, but I got the worker's vest from Bobby Maverick at http://www.buskergear.com. It has the pockets I need (including a flip stick pocket in the back), a topit...you name it. It is great for outdoor performances. Sorry, but I just don't see the need for 76 pockets (I guess I'm just getting too old to remember what I put in pocket #58).

From another point of view, you certainly don't have to use all the pockets!
I don't have Bob's vest but what all those available pockets afford you is the choice of where to put items for their best use in individual routines. The multiple pockets = choice, yes?

I can understand you wanting to have a choice. My thing is that I would rather have pockets that I can actually use (topit, flip stick pocket, thumb tip pockets, etc.).

I also found Bobby Maverick great to deal with (have talked with him on the phone a number of times). He is a busker, so his Worker's vest was designed from observations and practical experience. Take the flipstick pocket for example. He observed several street performers performing this routine. He noted that after the vanish, you always end up "dirty", hence, the addition of the flipstick pocket. Also, I can use topits, breast pockets, and thumbtip pockets more than 76 pockets. Yes, it is more expensive, but I would rather have something I can use, and it is built to last a lifetime.
You be the judge. Bob Phillips |
