Hello,
I was wondering what is the best way to "get the gig" Just show up to the restaurant and pitch your self or call ahead and risk getting turned down faster because it is easier to say no to someone over the phone than it is in person. I have heard both bits of advice and was just wondering what the going consensus was. Thanks a lot |

Go to the restaurant and hour before it opens to meet the owner. Other approaches gets you a manager.

Alec had posted my formula on how to book a restaurant, but it was an older version and outdated. I asked him to remove it and I posted the entire formula here in a new thread:

Mr. Funsway,

You want to talk to the real decision maker and often a manager will put you off until he talks to the owner. In other situations the GM has full authority with abscentee owners. Sometimes the Gm is partner with the Chef.
Do a little homework before approaching any business, but if you are walking in Cold, I'd always try and reach the owner. If, for example, you have met with the Chef/owner and he has sent you to the GM you are in a control position -- "I was chatting with Jim about how a magician performing in the evening could bring enhance the qaulity of the dining experience and bring customers back. Since this would require coordination with all of the servers he has sent me to you. Do you have any experience with magicians as part of a marketing plan?"
