I once saw a video of Kozak where he visibly turned a rose petal into an egg. Is anyone familiar with this effect?

Look for egg on fan routine. Also Weller eggs.

Bob Blau's World of Magic has the quintessential Egg on Fan routine. It's the one that Tommy Martin used to close his show. Google Max Stering Egg on Fan. It goes back to the 1930's.

Dan Ford makes QUALITY rubber (latex) eggs that are very similar (and I think better) than the original Weller eggs.
Dan also provides a routine props, and accessories for a "rose petal" to egg routine. Highly recommended! |

The best eggs are the ones described in Bob Blau's book. They are natural egg skin. You make them out of duck eggs. They are a hassle to use, but they work consistently. They never stick together. Weller eggs were NEVER any good for this.
I learned the routine from Tommy Martin. I tried a lot of substitutes. I've always gone back to the duck eggs.

Bill,
I made one years ago from a chicken egg, but ironically had an egg-laying duck at the time. I wish I'd known. The egg skin was pretty involved to make, and high maintenance from that point on. Did you have to rub the duck egg skin with glycerin?

Duck eggs certainly are more easily prepared. However, today the problem is that they tend to be so large until handling the real egg that size becomes a separate problem.

Jim Gerrish's "Ungimmicked Egg Bag" is a complete birthday party routine that has several egg tricks included in it (in his Kid Magic section on my site). Happy egg hunting!

How about egg in balloon? A balloon is blown up, placed into a brandy sniffer, or deep clear bowl, and then burst with a pin. The egg is poured into your hand and you crack the egg into a clear glass.

I remember Alan Wakeling writing up an "idea" in GENII (early '50s). He described a flower petal to egg, using an egg skin,

Martin Tonelli, from Holland, performed the creation of an egg for may years in his act. He used the natural egg skin. He kept always a few of them in bottle filled with pure alcohol.
Posted: Sep 1, 2013 03:51 pm Addendum: Tonelli performed it with a crumbled piece of paper on a table tennis bat. You could really see the egg "grow". Of course he hit the egg on the rim of a glass and it was real because the content of the egg dropped into the glass. |

I was cleaning out a box of old books, and found one that I had forgotten I had. It's a paper back booklet from the '3os by Joseph Ovette. Darn,I can't remember the title and it's only a week or two ago! Anyhow, the whole booklet is on EGG TRICKS.

Two small holes on each side of egg-remove content- place egg inside a glass of white vinegar-let sit a good day.
