It was on “Ad-Lib”, the highest rated television talk show in Quebec, Canada that Alain Choquette established himself as a truly extraordinary magician. It wasn’t long before his endearing personality captivated the hearts of millions of Quebecers every week. His charm and interaction with the audience paved the way for the gift that is his humour and his world-class magic. In 1993, a lifetime dream would become a reality as he becomes the first Quebec born magician to ever present a magic show, in Montreal, on the big stage. The Theatre St-Denis is the site for his first stage show: “Premiere Apparition” (First Apparition), the show opens to critical acclaim and he is instantly transformed into a show-business star. Critics claim his “tricks are exceptional” and his personality “poetic, funny and touching”. Critics go on to say that “Choquette reinvents magic”.
Alain does not put on just a show, but Headlines Casinos and Theatres around the world including: “Grand Illusions” @ Ceasars Palace in Atlantic City and in Las Vegas; “Jeux de Vilain” (Villains Game) & “Alain Choquette et Compagnie” @ the Casino de Montreal. In fact, on September 20th, 1999, Alain is once again signed to inaugurate another brand new Las Vegas hotel, this time Alain opens to critical acclaim at the Paris Hotel. His performance is breath taking, an hour and a half of magic, as only he can present it, and all of it based on the theme, Paris! A sell-out of over 1200 people attends the inaugural performance. Instantly he wins the public over and the Paris Hotel once again adds another 12 weeks of performances. If that was not enough, his magic television appearances are even more impressive! He has been featured on NBC’s “The World’s Greatest Magic;”& ABC’s “The Champions of Magic.” He is currently the host of Quebec’s “The Bachelor”& just produced a new show entitled “Drolement Intime” (Intimately Funny) which brings a new concept of close-up magic projected on the big screen. Alain’s magic has been adapted and performed by David Copperfield including “A Dream of Aces (Grandfather’s Aces);” “Gypsy Thread;” and “The Verdict Illusion” (where 13 volunteers disappear live on stage).
Alain’s Lecture will be a Tribute to his Mentor: Gary Ouellet (producer of the World’s Greatest Magic TV shows & David Copperfield’s TV Specials among others) This is not so much about Gary’s tricks, but the philosophy and the approach of performing magic in the real world. Alain will teach you some incredible magic effects, but also will explain ideas of showmanship, performance, misdirection, timing, technique & selecting material to have the greatest impact on your audiences.
His endless imagination, his original artistic style, his charm and intimacy have made Alain Choquette one of the premier entertainers in the world today! This is a very rare opportunity to learn from a Master Illusionist/Magician Headliner, Talk-Show Host, Producer, & Teacher! Alain Choquette will be in San Francisco for ONE NIGHT ONLY! DO NOT MISS THIS EVENT!

Magic @ The Rex starring RJ Owens, Adam Sachs & Sebastian Boswell
Ongoing Every Saturday Night 8:00pm
The Hotel Rex, 562 Sutter Street, San Francisco
Magic at the Rex is an evening of mystery, wonderment and laughs. In an intimate cocktail lounge setting at the classic Hotel Rex in Union Square, you will be up close and personal with every flick of the wrist and wave of a hand of Adam Sachs, Sebastian Boswell III and RJ Owens.
Here's how the San Francisco Chronicle described the show: "Forget the pyrotechnics, fog machines and cheesy background music - this isn't Caesars Palace. Absolute Magic focuses on the interactive and communal aspects of a magic show rather than the spectacle. Featured are local magicians RJ Owens - whose avuncular charm and offbeat brand of comedy magic will have you somewhere between smirking and outright chortling (depending on your sheepishness) - and Adam Sachs, with his mystifying sleight of hand, which may require reminders to close your mouth."
Tickets are $25, and there’s a two drink minimum.
