Hi all
The magician has the three cards in seperate pockets before the spec cuts the cards & makes their selection. The magician uses only three cards, your pockets can be shown empty afterwards. There is no rough/smooth used in the deck at all. Bite the bullet and buy the trick you will not be disappointed. Cheers Mark P |

Triple Impact is a simple to follow yet powerful routine and as such we have not over complicated the method. It looks oh so clean to the spectators.

You can pre-order Triple Impact from both Hank Lee & Hocus-Pocus if you live in the USA.

This is very good indeed. You can perform this in a group, stage, walk-around or right under their noses scenario. A truly delicious effect and the reality far exceeds the hype. The operational aspect is utterly simple and the pay off packs a real punch.
Do however, spend the time and work on a strong presentation as it will do proper justice to the overall impact. The effect deserves it!

Could someone please say whether the spectator has an "apparent" free choice of pockets,
Or... Is this a, put the lowest card in this pocket, the next highest in this pocket etc type routine. Many thanks, Fon
Always thinking..........?

"Is this a, put the lowest card in this pocket, the next highest in this pocket etc type routine." Not quite, that idea is improved upon, so the spectator does have an element of choice. I suggested part of the method of this effect to the originator, so it is interesting to see what he came up with as a finished product and that it is being well received. The approach to the pockets from Matt is certainly different. Paul. |

I received my Triple Impact and am quite happy with my purchase. I will give the "cons" first and then the "pros."
The ad copy is mostly true with the exception of the following two things: 1) "...and places them in to 3 separate pockets of his choice." Two of the three choices are free. However, it is unlikely that the participant will remember that all three were not free choices. 2) One of the cards is removed by the participant before you remove yours--the ad copy implies that he removes his first each time. However, this is another thing that likely won't be remembered. Further, the card he removes first is held face down, so as far as he is concerned there is no way you could have known it anyway, and then you proceed to remove the same card from the same respective pocket and there are no other cards in that pocket. The effect is not at all hampered by either of the preceeding conditions. I felt the instructions could have been a bit more detailed. For example, my cards were set up exactly the opposite of the way the instructions said (descending order rather than ascending order--those of you who have the effect will understand what I mean). I was able to figure that out and make the necessary adjustments immediately, but it may have been very confusing to someone who is new to magic or to this type of effect specifically. I would have also preferred to see some crediting as to where the different concepts came from. All of the principles involved here have been around a while, but no credits are given. For those of us who are into history and research, it would have been nice to have had some resources listed for these principles. Those are the "cons" and they are very, very minor. Now the pros... This effect is exceptionally powerful. It is very cleverly put together and is emminently practical and commercial. The hobbyist can use it to fry his friends, while it will readily be put into the working repertoire of many professionals. It is usable in virtually every audience size from one-on-one to full stage shows. I cannot imagine even the most intelligent layman being able to reconstruct the method, and it will fool most magicians as well. It can be presented as either a magical effect or a mentalism effect, and as such is very versatile and open to a myriad of presentational ploys. It is also, as the ad states, very easy to do technically. There are no sleights required, just a (very) little bit of handling. You will, however, need to choose your participant carefully. All of the action on his part happens while your back is turned. An unruly, challenging spectator could cause trouble by not following your directions and you would have no way out, so you need to be sure to choose someone that you know is cooperative. That should be fairly easy as long as you don't do this as an opener--just pick someone who has cooperated with you earlier in the show. The routine is also very clean. You really only have one card in each pocket and you really remove the matching card from the same respective pocket as the participant. You can show each pocket empty after removing its card. And all three cards are in your pockets before you start the effect. The participant freely cuts the deck and removes his three cards while your back is turned, so any thoughts of estimation or marked cards are negated. I would suggest that you use the deck for another routine or two before performing Triple Impact. I replaced a couple indifferent cards with aces so that I could do a four ace production followed by Jazz Aces, Twisting the Aces and Daley's Last Trick. That gives me an entire set with cards from this deck, adding conviction on the part of the audience that the deck is normal since the cards I've been using are normal. Then you can replace these cards into the deck, spread to apparently show a full ordinary deck and go into Triple Impact. This is just a suggestion, but I think it has merit, as you can do a card set and go immediately into this effect as a closer without any kind of a deck switch. To sum up, this is an outstanding effect, very clever, very powerful and very practical. You will enjoy performing it and I can't see any audience not being completely astounded by it. I give it my unreserved highest recommendation (but I do suggest that the manufacturers consider making the instructions a bit more detailed in future print runs). Get it--you won't be disappointed.

Hi Scott,
Thank you for that great review! I understand about the instructions and will alter these for the new print run. I now do the effect while facing the spec so I have all the info I need to produce my cards first. Peter |

Peter,
If I were to send you another brand of playing cards, could I pay you to make up Triple Impact for me with that deck. As I'm typing this, I've just realized why this might not be possible!! I'll contact you privately to discuss. In the meantime, I'll carry on using the Bikes. |

I just got this, and I agree it is a very clean effect. However, I'm a little disappointed in the deck that I received, due to the cards having a "coincidental" nature about them, that I can't describe here, but I feel may be too blatant for me to perform for a skeptical spectator.

I used this effect as a closer to my after dinner show at a very posh association banquet in famous Sun Valley, Idaho. It brought down the house! This really is an excellent routine.
