Statistics are a fun thing. I mean at some point in a 12 year period I think it was 1/2 of Illinis governors went to jail. Only 45% of inner ciy gang members did. Which meant statistically speaking you had a better chance of going to jail if you were he governor than a drug dealing gang member! Gotta love statistics.

This was fun. I'm glad I got to read most of it before it started disintegrating. Of course, with the terrible use of quotes, it's in there in triplicate.
Never heard of someone's underwear blowing up in a car.

I had a grandson who had a massive explosion in his diaper once. Well, more than once actually.

Now to be fair it was not the flame as much as the insuing laughter that caused the crash, but still it involved underwear in a way, and an explosion of sorts in the story. I readily admit that it is not such a HUGE problem and we do not need a government agency to regulate it.

How do we arrive at the conclusion that air travel is safer than driving? This info, of course, comes from the driving experts. But that doesn't make me feel any less frightened of flying. If anything, it makes me more afraid of driving. As soon as the light turns green, I drive as fast as I can, screaming like a madman.

Since the topic is still alive, I'll stir the pot further.
The comparison is only meaningful if there is a choice involved. I do not, for instance, choose between driving and flying when I go to the supermarket. Similarly, driving from Canada to Australia is out of the question. It would be helpful if we could remove all the "choiceless" trips from our calculations. I doubt anyone has done this. But here's the real question. Am I safer driving from A to B or flying from A to B when the choice is real. Do you drive from Montreal to Miami or fly? Now that is a relevant choice. John
