I'll be interested to hear what people say about this. I've been rather disappointed with Ellusionist in the past, so I don't trust their trailers anymore. Fancy editing and graphics doesn't equal good magic.

Cyberqat, you took the words right out of my mouth. Justin some great stuff has come out of youi mind and hands over the years. But out of your mouth or keyboard, you gotta tone it down.

Let me add this effect looked cool. My daughter the teenage magician ordered it. She has more faith than me but if it's good I will report back. Actually I am surprised not to see some reviews already

Well that would be at the E forum, I need to feel that there is an objective review here. As good as it looks it makes me think of X-Finger which I thought was a waste of money.

Maybe we'll be lucky and see it in the Wizard Product Review this week

Thanks Mercury52, I posted that review. I also posted it over at the Theory11 site if anyone noticed. I'd be glad to answer any questions anyone may have. And I'd like to think I'm quite objective Mr. Tennispro, I have no affiliations with anyone involved, just think it's a pretty cool effect.

Tell us about the presentation and setup/get ready
|

JustinClark New user 66 Posts |
Sure mike, well the presentation is pretty open to whatever you have in mind involving a card rising from a deck drawn on your arm. If youre asking about the mechanics of the actual performance it's almost self working. The setup is pretty straight forward but will certainly take some playing around with. I've been messing with it all night and have only had a one minor issue which Eric Ross quickly replied to my email with a suggestion.

What kind of Sharpie are you using - does dry erase work better?
I'm not a tat guy at all... so the mere thought of drawing on my arm initially seems a little not my style... but I must admit it looks beyond cool visually.

Can a beginer pull this one off, or it requires some complex moves or sleights?

I got burnt in my early days with a Eric Ross effect & I won't be making the same mistake again.
Besides, the method looks fairly obvious to me. I'll leave this for the kids at Ellusionist who like drawing on themselves. |

Sayssold1, yes actually they even suggest using dry erase marker for ease of removal and reset. I've found that crayola markers work as well. You can use any kind of marker you're comfortable with.
Drorwis, sure a beginner can accomplish the effect just fine, no complicated moves. UncleBukle, sorry to hear that. I'm curious which one so that I may avoid it. And if the method seems obvious to you than you're probably right. It became obvious to me as well but we're magicians... "I'll leave this for the kids at Ellusionist who like drawing on themselves." you really let your inner troll shine through with that one. Why even bother saying anything if you have such disdain for the effect and an entire group of people? We're supposed to be a supportive community and it's post's like that from people like yourself that keep me away from the Café sometimes. Very disappointing. |

Justin -
A forum is useless if it's only full of praise & positive reviews. If I think someone or something is garbage I shall say it. Whether or not you agree is up to you. If everyone kept quiet when they bought something terrible then we'd all be getting burnt left, right & centre. My views of the Ellusionist crowd are shared by some & not others, but the reputation many are aware of had to be earned somehow. Not that all of it is bad, just most of it IMO. You're curious to know which effect I didn't rate so you can avoid it. So my inner troll as you so politely put it could actually save you some money there. Or not depending on your opinion of the effect. I'll continue to be harsh on stuff I think is half arsed & I will sing from the rooftops about well thought out effects. No middle ground from me. I only write about what I dislike immensely or love intensely. Otherwise it's just average & not worth the effort. |
