I have an IPOD nano which I connect to my Happie Amp and Sound Que system.

Normally it works fine but occasionally it will make no sound at all despite showing the song as playing or sometimes the screen is blank. The fact that the screen is occasionally blank leads me to suspect the IPOD.

I've never owned an IPOD before. Is this how they start to die or does it sound like I'm making a common mistake. I've checked the wires and volumes. The charge is fine on both IPOD and Happie Amp and the Batteries are fine and I'm running on the Happie Amp plug. Once the program was playing fine but stopped in the middle of a show.

When I get home and set it up it's fine.

I guess my basic question is : Is this how IPODS act when they are getting old?

Consarn this dadblamed technology!

Could the cable going from the iPod to the Happie Amp be the cause? Sometimes cables will work fine, but if you move them on the wrong angle, they lose their connection.

If you check ebay, you should be able to buy a new cable for a few dollars - hopefully that's the cause.

I have experienced this before, only to realize that the volume slider was all the way down...
Things are more like they are today than they've ever been before...

I'll check the cable more carefully, I moved it around at the show but in the middle of a show I didn't do a very good "bump and wiggle".

I checked the volume on the "Sound Control"(I sail Sound Que but it's Sound Control) Ipod and the Happie Amp but good thought.

Thanks Guys.

Try resetting the IPOD before each show. I know the VSM recommends it, but I'm not sure how other remote control ipod systems work.

If your ipod is less than a year old, it is still under warranty. I would take it to the Genius Bar at one of the Mac stores. Even if it is not under warranty, take it there and maybe they can run tests on it for you to determine if something is wrong. The hard drive in mine went bad a couple of weeks before the 1yr warranty and they replaced the whole Ipod. It has been working great ever since.

Since you have a Nano, it has a solid state drive in it so much less likely that it is an issue with the drive inside.

I had similar symptoms one time where it would go silent during the show but it would always work fine when using it at home.
The cause was a corrupted song in the Play list. Once the song was removed from the ipod and replaced with a clean copy of the song, it worked perfect ever since.
At home, play the whole play list that you were having problems with from beginning to end without skipping ahead to see exactly where it fails.

As far as the screen going blank, could that just be the ipod going into power saver?
There is a setting on the ipod that you can set the Back light to "Always on"

If it is still exhibiting strange and inconsistent behavior, then try wiping it and adding the music back to it.
