Does anybody know of a website that lists tricks with their commonly accepted origins and/or creators? If not, it seems like that would be a useful site, as magicians are more respectful of attribution than in any other field I know.

Encyclopedic Dictionary of Magic by Barton Whaley available from Lybrary.com
The book is very complete and, even if it is slightly American biased concerning the origins of tricks, at least we know when the tricks appeared in the US. A huge work which can be completed by Barton Whaley's Who's Who in Magic.
