Hello Magicians,
I was asked to prepare a magical proposal for a close friend that is looking to pop the question soon. He is not a pro magician but has some basic experience. The conditions would be. 1. It can't look cheezy 2. It needs to be somewhat practical 3. He is willing to practice for as long as it takes. 4. FYI - This will be on filmed on a hidden video 5. It has to obviously incorporate the production of the ring somehow. My initial thoughts were some sort of spinoff of DC's "Coal to Diamond" routine on his 10th TV special (Bermuda Triangle.... Your Ideas and help is much appreciated. PS. Had another proposal idea and was wondering if anyone played around with combining Smoke 2000 and the raven....??? Thank you MT http://www.MagicianToronto.com |

How about taking a "napkin", shaping it into a rose, a little bit of flame...It transforms into a real rose w/the ring on the rose stem. Prep would be needed to ensure the ring doesn't fall off, of course.
Along with the rose, the patter could be, "Beauty is a single rose, you are a dozen. (Magic) Will you marry me." This line may sound cheesy, but it is a good line, and would go with the routine.

No ring flight, raven involve please...You don't want to he ring accident fly away or drop prematurely...
Simple way is learning how to make an origami ring woth a dollar bill. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDfp1_wyVlA Put it on her finger and said I am trying to practice for the real thing.. When she is inspecting the ring, palm the real ring and when ready ask for the ring back, do a subtle pass and voila a real diamond ring on her finger...And she cries and you have a shot for TV. |

I rather think condition number 1 makes the project a bit of a non-starter

Hi knmagic
Its so funny cause a Raven was something I was really thinking about! I really do appreciate the feedback. Not really a silk kind of guy. Want it totally impromptu looking. There was an effect I saw a while back. Its a ring flight routine where the ring ends up on the stem of a wine glass, Just wondering if anyone heard of it or has seen it? Thanks, MT http://www.MagicianToronto.com |

I could be wrong but I seem to remember him mentioning that at some point (though the ring may be gimmicked; I'm not sure.)
