I'm kinda new to balloon twisting, but I was supposed to make a sign in balloon that says "Welcome".

1. Any tips on making alphabet letters?

2. Also, should I put the balloon letters onto butcher paper and then put the butcher paper on the wall or should I just put the balloons onto the wall?

3. Would you use masking tape or would any tape do?

Thanks.

Use pinch twists to change the direction of the balloons to make the shapes you need and don'[t be afraid to add more balloons instead of back tracking and thus making a letter have 2 bubblees on one side and not the other

any tape should do but I think I would use sticky dots and if you are fgoing to stick it to somthing and then hanging it try rubber cement

just some ideas I sure hope you get better advise then this lol

It's often easier to make "calculator style" letters. So that you don't have to deal with soft bends and curves. Like Preston mentioned, used pinch twists.

MT,

Frank Stringham's Entertaining with Balloons (volume 3 or 4; I can't remember which) has a lengthy section on making balloon letters, both cursive and noncursive (as well as numbers). Though he doesn't teach each of the 26 letters, he does (or so he claims) give enough information that you can probably piece it together. Letters are tougher than I thought they'd be, so I found the tape kind of helpful.

When I do words (assuming I'm doing them in the privacy of my home prior to giving them to someone), I will weave a background out of balloons and attach the words/letters to it. It makes a nice package and something my customers remember. I used to use tape (masking was better for me than other kinds) but I found a better way, at least in the places I work. I will staple or attach small pieces of yarn (though I guess you could use some of your nonfunctional balloon segments) to the wall/board and then use the yarn to attach the letters where I want them. (I also use yarn to attach to the letters to my balloon weave).
