Okey, I have decided to have a linking rings routine in my act and I need help by all of you which rings I should buy. The thing is that I live in Sweden and need a shop who do oversea shipping for less than the cost of a new set of rings. Smile

Also, what books should I buy, what videos? I was thinking of the 25 tricks with the linking rings. Any good? Also I thought of Celinis Lord and Master of the rings... In an earlier post I was recomended the Whit Haydn Comedy 4 ring routine which I´m going to buy.

Any ideas?

Happy for answers.

I would add to Vinny's list the Stevens Video on the Rings. There are performances and explanations by 4 performers including Richard Ross and Jay Marshall. There is a 6 ring performance by Ross, a comedy ring routine by Marshall, a 3 ring routine, and an 8 ring routine by Samuel Patrick Smith.
For the rings themselves, get a 12 inch set of stainless steel rings. The best are made by Owens Magic Supreme and will last a lifetime. Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile

I think the 10-inch Owens are best. 12-inch is a little harder to handle, unless you are working HUGE stages. Even though they cost a lot they will last forever... lightweight stainless steel tubing polished and literally impossible to dent, scratch or break, and no plating to chip off.

If you do close-up stuff the ninja rings are what you want; otherwise follow Pete's and Vinny's advices.

Good eve Arkadia,

I also suggest McBride's Magic on Stage Volume 1 for an excellent explanation of the rings. Celini's stuff is also very good. I just recently won the senior stage competition at Tannen's Magic Camp doing a rings act using 6 rings. But it all depends on what kind of rings you wish to use. I use 12 inch rings with a standard key. They're big and allwo me to do many moves I couldn't do with smaller rings. But there are many advantages to smaller rings but you really have to think about what kind of act that you're doing.

They have linking coat hangers, barb wire and some rings that I find exceptionaly impressive, "Twisted Rings". Rings are one of my personal specialties and I believe the beauty of doing anything from a 2 to 10 ring act lies in the magician. If you have any questions, please PM me.
-Much love,
