I have been selling this effect since 1978.
I do the basic routine or the alternate with a finale, but I suggest to people that they do their favorite sponge effect along with this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1IDB2JRFyE&feature=related I would like some suggestions to include in my updated instructional DVD. Here's the premise: Large ball- 3" sponge changes visibly to two 2" balls, then one of the 2" changes to a 1" ball. The one inch ball changes to two 1/2" balls and the 1/2" either changes back to 3", or all of the produced diminished balls change to a ball to a square or a bunny. If someone were to do a more elaborate routine, ie: once you have 2" ball, go into a 2" routine. Looking for suggestions to incorporate this into cups and balls with diminished balls appearing or larger sizes returning. -Ian

If all the shrinking adds up to one BIG “0” (Zero) sponge…could you wrap some patter around that?

There are many possiblities for Chop type effects and C&B is one thinks of a cup as an extra hand rather than a container, e.g. using a mouth-up cup instead of your pocket. Tehn a One cup/one ball effect could be done. When another cup is added you would need more balls ...
However, (opinion) the advantage of using sponge balls in a C&B rouitne is that the audience does not know they are not solid. Any effect that would "trip method" might detract from the C&B. What you enhance in fun you deminish in magic.

Apparently no one wants to play.
