Hello everyone,
back in the early 90s, I caught his act at the Castle. I greatly enjoyed his performance and chatted with him afterwards. I've been out of the magic scene for awhile and have been wondering what he has been up to. Anyone have any info? Thanks, Paul |

Hi Paul,
Joe Givan is now in Castle Rock Colorado doing performances with Carol Massie at his wonderful "Theatre of Dreams." I've had the chance to see his show "Dream Masterz" there twice. The theater was designed and built by Joe and his wife Carol Massie. It's a small little theater with about 50 seats. The theater itself and the lobby too are decorated nicely - very classy. The performance consists of stage illusion and close-up performance. Lots of audience interaction. In addition to Joe's show, this theater also reguarly invites guest artists to perform, including magicians but also including hypnotists, mentalists, jugglers, and other performance artists. If you are ever in the Denver/Colorado Springs area, be sure to check it out. It's located on Park St. in Castle Rock just off I-25. I'd give you a website but they do not have one yet. Hope this helped! --Jack |

Paul,
Joe Givan is a personal friend of mine. He is the most graceful and technically perfect magician I have ever seen perform. About 15 years ago, he won the "Gold Cups FISM award for his close-up magic performance. He always has very good presentation in and with all of his effects. And, because he was dropped on his head repeatedly as a child, he has always had a slight bent for the macrbre and the bizzare in his presentation. His hands are incredible to watch. At one point in his life he was at a crossroads and had to decide on a career in magic or as a classical pianist. He chose the former. Music's loss is magic's gain. Mike

I saw a very early production of Givan's DreamMasters show. (Actually, it was more of a dress rehearsal for his friends.) Even this preliminary version was great. Joe has weird ideas and a show well worth seeing.
