Earlier this year, 10 magicians gathered at Magic Bar in Stockholm to tape a DVD collaboration.
A 2-disc set has now been produced, which will soon be distributed through Murphy's. A trailer can be viewed here: http://vimeo.com/17475538 |

I found the dvd in the hotlist:
http://www.hocus-pocus.com/ "Ten of Scandinavia's most clever and talented magicians demonstrate and teach their magic on this new DVD. This is creative, energetic and visual magic in a beautifully produced DVD, highly recommended." -- Matthew Field, Editor, The Magic Circular "Watch out for the latest invasion from Scandinavia! Fortunately it is just excellent magic, very well executed. A Smorgasbord of Magic - it's their specialty." -- Roberto Giobbi "Do yourself a favor and get 21! Twen-ty-one, Twen-ty-one!" -- Bill-Ma-lone "Refresh your perspective, recharge your attitude, and let the Lateral Thinking and novel approaches expand your consciousness! 21 does what creative works are supposed to do: inspire, guide, teach, satisfy, and make your magic new." -- Jon Racherbaumer "Creativity is certainly alive and well in Sweden! The thoughts that popped into my head as I watched were - Wow! This is excellent! Great thinking! Got me again! How cool is that! My two word recommendation - 'Buy it!'" -- Mike Powers |

Mee too. I'm scanning the forums like crazy to find a review, maybe because I am part of it and spent all autumn editing it
This is kind of a unique project, we managed to pull 10 busy magicians/inventors together all at the same day and actually took siege of the Magic Bar in Stockholm from early morning to veeery late. Everybody was prepared so it was possible to use most of the restaurant until they opened up. Rigging the cameras into new positions and getting the lighting right between shots took it's time, so when they opened up for the public we had to move backwards to adjoining rooms. Towards the end you will hear the show going on in the background at the same time as we were shooting. So the DVD is edited just as we filmed it, in that order, and I really hope you will like it. |

Let us know your thoughts on it, if you have the time. And if you think it's worthy, consider nominating it over at my Best DVD of 2010 thread.

Holy crap. This is awesome!
The way it was edited and shot, the quality is literally AMAZING. The angles shot as well as the quality made me feel as if I were watching a movie. The ideas are worth while and there is something for everybody. This is something worth nominating. I'm impressed by this set. |

Thanks. Will definitely check this out. Let me ask you -- is it mainly a series of one-on-one effects, with single magicians explaining their methods? Or is there a conversational element with the magicians talking together, a la the "Talk about Tricks" DVD? And what were your favorite effects from it?

I got back from work so I'm gonna start watching the other parts of the dvd, but I watched ALL the EFFECTS/EXPLANATIONS. This is more of single magicians performing for the camera and explaing the methods. There ARE however a few tricks where they are performed for an audience Memoradix for an audience on stage Time after time for a magician audience My favorites Circle Vanish - A nice way to vanish a coin in a motion Memoradix - Nice to see the color seperation in action. I don't think I'll be using this for quite a while. Lots and lots of practice but very fun to watch. I want to take my time and work this Sleeveless Sleeving is always great Forced Will - I LOVE THIS. Pretty much a holy grail to me in the magicians choice JS' Card Control, Double Lift, Top Change are all great and stuff I will use Cherry Blossom- A nice surprise..bottle from mouth! Gap Drive - I have to use this. It looks as if you take the coin and take it out of your elbow..you put it in your elbow and it appears in your hand. Impromptu, no extra coins Clink Catch- GREAT GREAT GREAT. Will have to use this. An off beat effect. You claim to make a (bar)bet that you can place coins on your elbow and catch them with the same hand. You apparently catch the coins and they can change into anything you want. Time after time- and impromptu situation effect. Somewhat like Paul Wilson's CCC, But the spectators select a card, The spectators cut and take a pack of cards, deal out a secret number in there head and place the remaining pack onto the dealt cards, packets are switched and in the end the specs card is on top of each respected pack. Display Bend is also very nice, some nice spoon bending without the misdirection. Will have to use. |
