My story is nowhere near comparable in terms of sadness to some things I see in this section so I hesitated at first but it does seem like the most appropriates section on the site to place this so here goes.
My company was downsizing and now I am looking for a job as a result. Their timing couldn’t possibly be worse: holidays coming, I am getting married soon etc.
I should mention that this was my ‘day job’ as a software development manager at an investment bank that I lost– I don’t make money doing magic (yet?), it’s more of a passion in spare time. My posting has dual purpose – main one is : if anyone else is in Software Development , weather in finance or not, in NYC, any help would be appreciated – PM me please.
Second reason was, I am curious how much magicians make in NYC -though I realize there is a broad range . I love card magic in general and memorized deck magic specifically – most people who have seen me think I should do MAGIC for a living, but I do not yet have the confidence nor know anything much about the ‘business’ side of magic. I was also curious how much one can make selling a card magic book that would be mainly delving into mem deck (I realize its not the most popular branch).
