I was reading the instructions I got with my Loops, and one of the tips has me confused.
It says: "Do not wear black clothing or use a black ground". Why shouldn't I be using it against a black background or clothing? I thought having it against back would make it even more invisible. I'm confused. |

Having a static background makes it much easier to see any light that may bounce off the Loop. Think of it like the moon - the only reason you can see the moon in the dark night sky is because it's reflecting the sun's light. If the night sky wasn't so dark and was patterned, the moon would be harder to see. Also, if light bounces off the background, illuminating the Loop from behind, the Loop will stick out.
And, one "black" isn't necessarily the same as the other. If your Loop isn't the same "black" as your background, it can stand out. This gets less troublesome under lower lighting, but it's still not ideal. You may want to check out the Threads, reels, and anchors part of the Café. It's in The Banquet Room near the bottom of the main page. Be sure to stay logged in, as it's only available to members with 50 or more posts.

You can also try striping the loop with a Sharpie marker. Michael Ammar used to sell striped ET. Maybe he still does, you'll have to check it out. If you need more info on how to do this PM, and I'll try to help...

I've found that Legacy thread from subdivided studios is near dang invisible with the exception of blatant fluorescent lighting... I use it to make all of my loops.

Just wear a busy shirt or top. Chequered patterns are ideal to hide thread.
