I've used this stuff for years for two basic effects;
1. Center tear 2. Bermuda tangle as described in Magick magazine. I was just wondering if any of the members had experience with dissolvo paper and if so how they might be using it? Just looking for more application possibilities. Thanks in advance. Cheers.

There is something inherently flawed in the center tear effect: Why do we ask someone to write something down on a piece of paper to immediately tear it up? It's logically paradoxical.
Now your idea of using Dissolvo does bring a potential solution to this problem: "if an idea is written on paper, will it get more easily shared with other through fire and its male symbol of the sun, or will it be better revealed by water's softness and its feminine moon symbol? To know this please tear it in two (have the spectator do the first tearing himself) one part for the water, one part for the fire. But since the masculine and the feminine are intricate in each of us let's tear the feminine side in two as well as the masculine side (do the second tearing yourself and palm the center fold) and offer these to water (drop some pieces in Dissolvo) and purify these with fire (take out a lighter and set the free pieces ablaze)... Now, after dealing with the content of the message, we could also place the ashes and the Dissolvo in some form of vanishing container and vanish them before making "the essence of the message to magically reform" and show the center fold

Corinda had a neat way of justifying the center tear. He would have the spectator write his word down, as in the normal presentation. Then he would say. "Did you write that or print it?" No matter what the answer was, he would take the first "writing" away, ask the spectator to fill out the paper the other way, and destroy the first billet by tearing it up.

Very nice thinking and good justification. Bill I haven't run numbers in a long time but when I did flash paper worked better. Of course I used to smoke back then to. What I've always liked about the water in bowl dodge, is that as I get older it gets harder to see and so the magnification principle helps in reading the center. I was hoping that we might go beyond these uses and think something a new? Although I appreciate any and all comments on the subject. Thank you.

It's hard to discuss methods here, because this is an open forum. It might be better to do something in the secret sessions.

Docc Hilford has the most hilarious routine ever using "Dissolvo." It's not my place to reveal it, you'll have to ask the man himself. If we're lucky there will be a video of it somewhere. Suffice it to say that it is a concept that only Docc could pull off successfully.

I second Dick. Docc Hilford has nice ideas using dissolvo paper, some of them are in his old videotape on billets.

Gentlemen without tipping the hat so to speak, might you be so kind as to say where one might find Docc's routine? I have quite a few of his offerings ie; Cinderella act, Pitch man, Mind Reading, Confidence man, the whole Monster mentalism series. I also have his Casandra Deck dvd and a number of his booklets.
Thank you again.

I don't know whether or not Docc ever released or published what I call his "mad scientist" routine ivolving "Dissolvo" paper which is why I have not offered any further description or explanation. As I suggested, the best source would be to ask the man himself (he reads and occasionally posts to the Café).
