Hello,

My wife and I would like to perform a cut and restored rope set to "World on a String" as a ballroom dance routine. Any suggestions for a handling where we could cut and restore 10-15 feet of rope? We saw a duo perform a routine like this on a cruise but I cannot remember the name of the performers.

Thanks!

I would suggest dance moves with the rope before and after the cut/restore. You might want to keep it simple using a loop of rope, tie it on and then do a dancing bit where you slide the knot off the rope.

@Rxlowry, I notice that you only have 1 post here on the Café. Not to sound rude or anything because we are all here to help each other anyway we can...BUT...It really helps if you give us some background with regards to your experience in magic. Are you new to magic or been doing it a while? And what type of magic are you into? Have you ever done a cut and restored rope? This sorta info is helpful to us so we don't send you down the wrong path. With that said, I'll offer you this.

For everything rope magic check out Stewart James' Encyclopedia of Rope Tricks (about $50)if you don't want to spend that much there is a paperback ed. called Abbott's Encyclopedia of Rope Tricks it's about 20 bucks new and a lot of used copies on line selling for as little as 5 bucks. This one book will give you more info on rope magic then you may ever need.

I hope this is somewhat helpful, and you don't think I'm being rude. Because that's not my intension.

Happy Holiday,
RJ

The Panama Rope Mystery from Tarbell would work well.

Daryl's Expert Ropes Made Easy (3 Volume DVD set) is a great resource if you're serious about learning rope magic

Then you could 'graduate' to Francis Tabary's roep magic

How long until you expect to perform this? Are you able to do the choreography? Are you and your wife Magicians? Is it safe to Dance with Scissors?

Sorry about all the questions but I think you might get better help if we know the answers.
