I find the search very UN User friendly. Is it ME? You put in a topic or username or question it says pick a forum! I use all forums it still does not work!! You have to know what and where to search?I do not get it. TOO frustrating.

Your feelings are shared by many, I'm sure. There are topics in the Annoucements forum that explain what's going on.
Somebody kick me off the computer, will ya?

I am totally confused by the Search.
I used to simple enter in the "Search" area the question or topic or some key word and bingo, I would get may posts and topics. Now, as Ken Husted says above, I have to pick a forum. there seems to be dozens of forums and if I am searching for some card effect, I come up empty. Has all this really changed or is it me? |

Magicdano, you've sort of answered your own question here. There is a big change in the search function. Previously, when no forum selection was required, the engine had to look at evey forum and every topic in the entire data base. Currently, that would be over 3 Million searches. Multiply that by the number of members on line doing a search and the result is the Café grinds to a halt. Part of the solution was to impose a 2 minute wait between searches. That helped but not very much. The result is the engine had to be taken down temporarily.
Today, if you were looking for a card effect, you'd type in your search criteria and select the workers forum. If you know the effect used gaffed cars, you might try gaffed and funky instead. Looking for a coin effect, you would choose nothing up my sleeve or if it uses gaffed coins, choose trick coin trickery. There is no longer a 2 minute wait period. This is not perfect but it is a lot better than what we had. The old search method caused the engine to go to every forum and every topic looking for your criteria and that's what slowed the Café down to a stop. It's not perfect but it's better than not having a search engine at all.

Thank you guys for your continued efforts with this. As you said Dave, it's definitely better than what was on here before!
