I don't think there is much value in trying to determine "levels" of cheating. Or attempting to determine if one form of cheating (stealing) is on a higher moral plane than another. It's kind of a personal thing.
Not that we can't judge people if they decided to talk openly about who they choose to steal from. |

Marlin1894,
I get your point. To be rude, cheating is cheating. Whether you steal $5 from a family game or 2 grand in a club, you steal. But. I'd prefer to steal an imbecile, an arrogant, an idiot, an upstart, or anyone like that than a charity game. You have to be faithless to do that. Some rules may apply. Some people have no law though. Nor self respect/esteem. |

I'm just saying that if you actually start meeting people who hustle, cheat, or flat out steal for a living and you want to learn from them, it's best not to make any moral judgements. Just detach yourself from it completely because it's not really very romantic most of the time. In fact it can be pretty depressing. We all have to make our own rules and codes to live by. I don't condone people doing whatever they want to do, I have limits, but I do accept it as the way of the world. And I make judgements like everyone else. Cause I'm human. For instance I think stealing from charity, or a church, is low down. I think cheating your friends at cards, becuase you have their trust and it's so easy to do, is low down. But when it comes to forums, I think it's best to leave the moral issues aside. Cause it just leads to meaningless wars of words and moral posturing. |

Black eagle,
There are a number of different types of cheats. Some only cheat the big time, casinos or state run institutions. Others will sit down to a game with strangers and hustle. There are those who will cheat friends and family. Of course there are many others in between. You appear to be of the last variety. Those that cheat to tell the story with a blatant disregard for who they have cheated or in what circumstance. You are stealing from sick children in my eyes. Regardless of what the charity was for, that is how I feel about your purported actions. I suppose the other difference is there are those who cheat to make a living. To eat... You do not appear to be in that category. You reach for low hanging fruit. Never seen a real game in your life. You hustle nickels and dimes, you read Erdnase and now you are the king right? Have you ever had a knife held to your throat? Or a gun pointed at you? Probably not, just a stupid kid boasting. Those types of stories rarely get told online like this, many of us prefer to share that in person. Slow down, you're gonna get hurt... J |

I even made a riffle stack calculator on my free time because it was a fun little project and I wanted to possible help members out. I was working on a RPG (role playing game) game that used stick figures and the guy lived in a small town. If you trained your character his skill level would go up etc... It was pretty cool but if I were to release that in a month or so I would get criticism for attempting to seek attention. I'll just slow down a bit and not post so much. |

Honestly, I only post things that I would find very interesting or helpful. I don't think you guys realize but I am very passionate about this art form so I can't get enough about it. I don't think you realize but some of the people here are very bit as passionate about this stuff as you are. And have been for YEARS. In some cases many, many, years. Everyone can appreciate your enthusiam, but if you stick with this stuff long enough someday you will understand where they are coming from. It may take you 2 years, or 5, or 10, but eventually you will "get it". You have a lot to learn yet, about a lot of things, so just cool it a little. I'm not trying to discourage you. I wish you all the best in your pursuits. But we've all seen guys like you come and go. You're all hyped up one minute, then you are on to something else the next. It's hard to even tell sometimes if you are posting something in earnest, or if you are trying to troll people. But I'm trying my darndest to give you the benefit of the doubt. |
