Hello friends.

I was just wondering if any of you have performed with butterflies in your acts? I really need help with that, I have a good idea using some butterflies in one of my acts. Please any piece of advice would be helpful.

Thank you Dave, but does anyone have some written material or videos about handling butterflies, or where can I find it?

Thanks

I believe Dave gave you that reference because that is the only topic on butterfly productions. The performer cited I believe is very unique and he is creating his own handlings himself.

So to answer you question, no there are no written or videos on this new art form of producing real butterflies.

I believe he actually posted that in his home country other magicians have started adopting his techniques, you might see if he is still reading and if you might be able to "learn at the master's feet" so to speak.

I posted that link because the OP is asking about working with butterfies. That topic shows a butterfly act and also talks about using them. It was posted as a reference only to help him make a better informed decision about such an act.

At the 2008 Combined I.B.M. / S.A.M. Convention in Louisville, Kentucky, did we not see a magician produce a live butterfly and observe it being burned to death at an overhead light?

Is there no video of that?

As awful as that sounds, realistically I think you need to expect your butterflies to die pretty quickly. They don't have much of a life span naturally, do they. I also assume they can't be "return flight" trained Smile
