Did the Queen thing again today, If you see any Photo's of the Queen (She was in Plymouth for the Colour Ceremony today,) and she's carrying a big 4 heart flower balloon model with a red white and blue Plaited balloon stem. I made it.

I was entertaining the kids in the Marque where she was meeting naval families, when she got to where I was I got the kids to say Good Afternoon your majesty and I'd preped a boy and girl present her with the balloon flower. She commented to Nick Bennet the guy who booked me who was escorting her around the tent that she'd seen me before.

I can't wait to see the local rag tomorrow to see if what I did gets a mention and this time they mention my name.

Prince Phillip was with her so I'll have to add his name to my website

I finally got a mention in the paper, the local rag mentioned me but not as Emazdad, they used my real name. I don't know whether it's something to do with it being a royal event that stops them using my performing name, but apparently they wanted to have the name of the people who supplied the flowers and posies given by the children, but were not allowed to because it would be free publicity using the queens name. I'm probably wrong but it'sa what a few people have said.

If your interested heres the articale on the papers website

Great Job! I did go over and read the article. It is always nice to get a little bit about you written up in the news. I am sure it doesn't hurt when it is an article about the queen at the same time.

Congrats on that. I think the important thing here is that he made the people feel welcomed no matter who it was. He saw an opportunity to market himself, and took it. Great job.

Were you able to get a picture of the Queen with your balloon flower? You could title it, "Another satisfied customer" Smile

Dan is right and brings up a good point. Always be ready for promotional opportunities. That is why I bring my digital camera with me to every performance. You never know when there moight be a great shot that would look great for your website or flyers.

Congratulations! You displayed your talents to royalty, and got free publicity at the same time. Very good.

It's always great when you get into the paper etc. Sometimes sending out press releases for your bigger, public shows also can really work well for you also.

Always carry a camera with you because you don't always know who you may meet. It works for me, I have a picture with several VIPs.

I can understand about the limitations of taking a photo. I still always carry mine for the chance that when I CAN take a pic, I have it available for me. This allows me to get some really great shots to use for my promotions.

I was just strolling through some of the past articles when I noticed this thread by Emazdad.
There was a picture of the queen with a balloon flower on the back of The Times (for a quotation competition , I can't remember the winning quote though). I've had the pic on my site now for some time to try and find out who did it.

Unfortunately, it's not Emazdad's, firstly she' was at the opposite end of the country and secondly Emazdads balloon flower sounds far superior to the one shown in the pic. What a shame.

Mine was made with 4 x 11" hearts 2 red, 2 white for the flower and 3 260q's red, white & blue plaited for the stem, A blue 418 was used for the centre of the flower, and 1/2 way down the stem I put an 8 petaled red, white & blue flower. If your going to give the queen a balloon you do something spectacular.
