I just finished reading a wonderful book by William Rauscher. It was all about the live of The Great Raymond. The accomplishments of the showman rivaled Houdinis. Hard to believe he was such a popular magician in his time, but so little is known about him. From what I have noticed, when people get together to discuss famous magicians of the past, Raymond is rarely mentioned. It is a great book about a very interesting performer. I highly recommend it! Without the search feature on the forum, I am not sure if the topic has been discussed before.

It is a very good book. I knew of Raymond because he was an Akron, Ohio boy, In fact, I went and took a photo of the gravesite for Bill Rauscher.

Horace Marshall had told me stories of Raymond and his fiery temper. He was a very accomplished performer and I have quite a bit of his paper and programs. There are also some good stories about him in "Illusion Show" by David Bamberg. I think the first reference I read on him was in 7th grade in Walter Gibson's book "The Master Magicians". That is when I learned he was from Akron.

I will try to write up a few of the stories I heard from Marshall in a couple of days.
