I read in Card College that Roberto Giobbi uses a mild Ph balanced hand soap to wash his hands before picking up his cards and practicing or performing. I've been looking for a Ph type soap but have had no luck. I've looked at Walgreens and Rite-Aid. The only thing I found was Phisoderm but that is an over all type soap. Any suggestions on name brands? Thanks.

Phisoderm is really basically a hand soap. Don't let the label fool you. Also, consider using some of the soaps that are intended for babies.

With all do repect to Robert Giobbi (who's knowledge with cards puts mine to shame) I would say this is more of an issue as to the type of soap rather than the PH. Ultimately the final PH that your hand is exposed to is the water you rinse with. What's more important, is not to use a detergenty drying soap or a soap that leaves your hands feeling greasy or overly moisturized for it may cut down on your feel for the cards. Neither one of these is related to the PH of the soap.

PS. As an example: Baby shampoo is Ph balanced for the eyes to keep it from stinging yet it is a high detergent soap.

A LOT of members swear by any soap you can find based on Rose water and glycerine. No idea why but it works! I used a normal hand conditioning lotion which helped but I have to admit that the rosewater one my wife bought me (whilst a bit stinky!) is somehow better. It's hard to explain but try it!

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll look for the "stinky" soap and continue to use Corn Huskers lotion prior to useing my cards.

See this tread we had on lotions. The secret is glycerin which binds water to the skin. The rosewater just cuts it so it wont blister the skin. Glycerin is found in Corn Huskers.
