A different one that isn't, "Hey look at this bill," bam it's a different one, would be Stimulus by Chad Long from his Scratch DVD. It's a switch, yes, but with a little bit of story and a pretty surprising (to the spectator) ending. Probably not the type of change/switch you want to chat about here, but it's really good nonetheless and thought I'd throw it out there. Incredibly easy. Great, fun gimmick with audience participation.
I've gotten great reactions with it so far. |

I think Michael Ammar has the best handling of the Vlado switch, which he teaches in his 1990 book, The Magic of Michael Ammar. He also teaches it on dvd, Classic Renditions #3. LIke the Classic Pass, I think learning the classic bill switch is important in our sleight of hand evolution ( gaining chops ).
Richard Sanders Extreme Burn or Tom Isaacson's Prophet seems to be the best as far as a lightning fast switch of multiple bills. I held off on getting that because I thought it would just appeal to other magi at the club. But, lay-spectators adore it. I feel $1's to $100's is ideal, as they will always ask if you can change them to $100's. I try not to use hack lines "if I could do that, would I be working here?" sort of thing, Instead, I like to keep a step ahead of them. Plus, the new 100's are so pretty. |

http://youtu.be/xI4yaAWJVbw Wow, now that's just blown me away. I wonder how practical it is. Loving the live performance, really looks fully examinable before and after.

I have been using 65lb paper for various bill effect's.
I love the way it fold's and hold's it's shape. But when I try to use it for a single bill change. The opposing bill behind can be barely seen. I wonder if I could go with a heavier paper to hide this. Todd |

Looks great!
It's amazing, people will criticize you for "biting the hand that feeds you," while they're busy praising the hand that beats them.

I've been doing the bill switch for about 30 years now. I rarely do a show without including it. It's part of a routine I do involving a lot of humour and someone else's cash, a flaming wallet, and bill to lemon.
Here's the bit I added. After borrowing the bill.. (I use a plant, give them a bill, just in case no-one wants to part with a bill) I get them to sign the bill. I take the bill.. and ask the audience.. "Now.. whenever I do this - (I ask the question - )" Does anyone know how many times can you can fold a piece of paper in half, before you can't fold it any more? Usually there's at LEAST ONE smart guy knows.." .. So - someone says "8" or "7" etc.. I say, ok - let's give it a try... I do the count out loud, get the crowd to also count with me (and do the switch). It's important to use contrasting bills. No use using a dollar bill and a 100 dollar bill... the change isn't obvious enough. Incidentally, the correct answer is generally accepted as being -- eight times. I get gasps, as it changes... Of course, the guy who gave me the bill is over the moon - but when I point out that it can't be his bill because - it doesn't have his signature...lots of opportunity for humour here... Clearly, show the note both sides.. then I go into the next bit which uses a well known gimmick. If anyone's interested in the "next bit" - let me know. Could be I'm preaching to the converted here, so I don't want to waste my time...and YOUR time.. Also.. you may all well have your own thoughts... I'm aware that the billswitch is well known, butif you're looking to turn it into a killer routine - hit me up!
