Hi, I was reading an advertisement for the Hottrix TT and its use for card spinning. Does anyone use a TT for spinning? Would a soft tip or hard tip work better?

Just use your thumb.

Contrary to KJfan, if you want to bounce cards and scale them over ten feet, you need a TT. The best thumb tip for this, in my opinion, is Thumbs Up Soft by Hottrix. You can get them here: http://www.hottrix.com

They're good, but I find the human thumb is a lot better... it's all about technique. A new tip isn't going to make you the best card spinner in the world. Just practice with no tip for now- if your thumb hurts, you're doing something wrong.

Personally I scale cards in my card manip act and routines all the time. I can scale them much further than 10 feet with consistency. I have never used a TT do accomplish this.

It really is in the technique and the various ways of scaling the cards. If your thumb hurts, you really are not doing it correctly. My thumb never hurts after scaling cards.

I have come up with a method for scaling cards that really works well for me. I am sure it is not new by any means, but I came about it myself. It is nice cause the cards remain hidden in front plam position and your thumb is used but not so much so that it would hurt. In my version, the thumb adds friction that is needed. A TT would not work well for this.

You are performing a production of Jeff Sheridan. Also, Jeff has a nice scaling technique on his new DVDs.

I hope to get Sheridan's DVD's. I am not sure which method I am using or who first came up with it. All I know is I developed it while playing around with cards one day. It just happened to work well for me. I will have to see Sheridan's dvd and see his method as well. Perhaps that is where mine came from. Thanks for sharing.
