I love the texture and feel of these for C&B but all the mouseballs (as in computers) that I've come across are simply too heavy - I mean seriously heavy. Does anyone know where to get mouseballs that are reasonably lightweight. (I don't even know if there is such a thing).

Not if you want the kind that have that special "inner feeling."

Yes, there is. I got some small ones to use with a set of Charlie Miller cups a while back.

I like the way a bare mouse ball grips in the fingers.
You know why don't act naive.

If you want some of these balls, you'd better buy some mouse right now..
the optical (infrared) mouse are spreading!

The ones I have tried have all the same weight (almost)... sorry.

Bill,

I recall you once pointed me to a manufacturer who makes crocheted balls with a mouse ball core...who was that?

About 2 years ago I purchased some mouse balls from The Ambitious Card…

http://www.theambitiouscard.com/index.cfm

A set with monkey fist coverings and another set with felt coverings to use with some Traditional styled Cups. Each set is heavy and does not roll when they hit the table. They can be a little noisy with a dull thud when they hit a hard surface. I am very happy with them and the customer service that Frank offers is the best.

Take care,
Bruce

This was very informative. I had never thought of using them. It is true that a mouse ball may go the way of the dial phone in the not too distant future.

Fortasse -

The best source I have found for mouse balls is here: http://www.mouseballz.com/mouse_balls.html

Please note that the black 'Apple' mouse balls do not have steel cores and are listed as light weight. Having never ordered those, I am not sure if they will be a good fit for your purposes.

Hope this helps.
