It's here! I hope you've activated your iGenii accounts, because if you have then you can log in at the link below and then click on the little flipping pages icon and read the February issue of iGenii.

http://askalexander.org/login.cgi

This month we have more audio: in addition to my rendition of "Genii Speaks," Jon Racherbaumer decided to give a more spontaneous version of "On the Slant" and talks about lots more than is in the printed column--and he teaches a trick, too.

We have a new audio column that appears only in iGenii, Max Maven's "Speaking of Max" (you'll find the button on the top of p.11).

The cover story this month by Jim Steinmeyer is on his new biography (from Tarcher/Penguin) of the great illusionist Howard Thurston, and includes both written and audio excerpts (read by author Steinmeyer).

And we've added video this month as well. On the top of p.11 you'll find a button for "More Genii Speaks," which is my maiden attempt at balancing a Flip video camera on my desk while juggling the new 10 pound book "Siegfried and Roy, Unique in All the World." I do a few tricks and talk about a few other books as well. We also have Tenyo's official video demos of their new tricks available to watch on the same page as my article about them.

Hope you enjoy it! Happy to hear suggestions for the future as we dive into digital.

Compare what the digital iGenii gives you with what MAGIC gives you:

Subscribe to Genii for $56 for one year and you get:
1. 12 printed monthly copies
2. 12 digital copies of the monthly issues FREE
3. Access to 74 years of back issues online FREE.

Subscribe to MAGIC for $54 for one year and you get:
12 paper copies ... and that's all.

If you want the digital copy, assuming you have an iPad, you'll pay an extra $4 a month. No iPad, you're out of luck.

So, one year of Genii (paper AND digital) = $56
One year of MAGIC (paper AND digital, if you have an iPad) = $102!!!

The math should make the choice for you! You're paying almost double for MAGIC and you don't even get any back issues.

All online features of Genii are free to all subscribers and viewable on any desktop, laptop, iPad, iPhone, Droid, tablet, and so on.

The company through which we are bringing you the digital issues is developing an Android app. As soon as the app is operational, we will add it to our service. In the meantime, you can login through whatever browser the Samsung Galaxy uses and access the digital issues that way.

Richard,

as an international subscriber I would have to pay $91 for Genii although I don't need/want the paper copies.
MAGIC only costs $48 for the digital ipad version only.

I think more and more people would and want to read a digital only magazine on their computer/tablets.

Will you offer a subscription possibility of a pure digital iGenii version (at least for international subscribers)?

That would be great news for international subscribers.

Kind Regards
Dirk

I would second Dirk's statement. I would rather just read the copies I want on the iPad. I really enjoy the embedded video and slide show functions in the e-versions of magazines.

Genii's iPad app has been aproved. All Genii subscribers can download it for free from the app store, login, and access issues going back to November 2010. All video and audio functions are accessible.

I just downloaded the Genii app from the Apple store. I tried to input the passwords that I use for the ask alexander site, and I get an error message: "Authentication failed." With the MAGIC Magazine app, it worked perfectly the first time, no passwords, no rigmarole. It just worked the way it was supposed to. Can anyone help me?

I've heard that we may have one available by May, but these things are usually delayed. I'll let everyone know as soon as we do.

Richard- Nice meeting you at Magic Con last month. I have a question for you regarding the digital issues. Is it possible for Genii to send out an email to its subscribers telling us that this month's digital magazine is now online and available? If that is too difficult or burdensome, maybe just posting on here would do the trick. It would be better than me clicking anxiously and trying to guess when it is available.
By the way, I very much enjoy your personal video segments. They seem to me to be akin to your comments in Richard's Almanac. A folksy discussion of things going on that you've observed, with your personal recommendations of tricks, books, etc.

They always are posted on the 14th of the month. Correct me if I'm wrong, Richard.

Has all the Video & Audio content from Genii Magazine from Feb 2011 to Dec 2012 been lost? I can’t seem to get an issue that works until Jan 2013.
