In a few threads, I have posted pictures, but thinking about it, I realized when going through all the threads, no one else has posted pictures, just links to pictures.
Is it a rule, written or unwritten, to post links instead of pictures here?
Figured I'd better ask now that I thought of it before I get anyone too upset with me.
Oops, gotta go get ready for work, talk to you all later.

I post links because that's what I know how to do. I don't think there are any rules regarding posting pictures. I've seen others do it.. I think.

I'm sure you will hear from the Café management if you are breaking any rules.

When I first started here, I signed my posts in the text area and included my web site link so people would know who I was. Finally (almost a year later) the Café saw this on all of my messages and PM'd me. It was against their rules, and I was informed I had to stop. They told me how to put a link to my site in my signature area and they edited my old posts to remove my site link. I'm not sure this is still the rule as I see some others doing it, but I stopped.

Thanks for the feedback on this. I haven't been to any other part of the Café, this is the only part of it I go to, maybe they do post pics in the other parts, and it's just that no one has here.
I do make sure I keep them small enough so no one has to scroll their screen to see the whole picture, if I want to post a Big picture, then I'll post a link to it.
So I guess I'll just keep doing what I do until if I hear I shouldn't.

So how do you post photos? I don't know how to do it.

Okay, let's see how well I can explain it;

1). you need to sign up with a photo hosting site - I use Photobucket - it's free;
http://photobucket.com/

2). you upload your picture to photobucket.
Remember, if it's a large picture - resize it first. If I'm going to post a picture in a forum, I usually resize it to no bigger than 600 wide by whatever length, that's usually a "safe size" where others in the forum won't have to scroll their screen to see the whole picture, and it usually won't be too large a file size.
If you need a program for downsizing/editing a picture, I've been using one called "Ifranview" for years, it's free to use, and easy to use;
http://www.irfanview.com/

3). In your post on the forum, you copy and paste the image code (IMG code) from your picture on photobucket (or whatever picture host you choose) and there you go, your picture should appear in your post.
3a). If instead, you want to post a direct link to your picture that people click on to view the picture, then you would copy and paste the "Direct Link" code for the picture.
(photobucket is easy as they list these codes under each picture, you just choose which you want to use).

P.S. - there are a lot of image hosts out there, and a lot of photo viewers/editors out there as well. I specifically mention photobucket and ifranview because those are ones I've been using for a long time and they are free, and I have found them to be easy to use. Are they THE best? I don't know, I just know they've worked for me.
