I notice some Tenyo-like tricks, often with identical names being offered for sale...but from Tricks Co.Ltd.Japan. Where did this company fit in with Tenyo's history? Did Tenyo license or somehow affiliate with this company? How authentic are these "Tenyo" items to the originals? What Tenyo items are sold under this name and does this company still exist?

I realize I'm asking quite a bit...but I've found only one post on this on Café.

I have quite a few Tricks Co. items and they are indeed often 'Tenyo-like'. I have no idea if the company still exists or what it's relation with Tenyo is, if there is a relation anyway.
I don't exactly know what you mean with your third question, as I believe the company has actually nothing to do with Tenyo. In answer to your last question, I don't think this company has 'Tenyo-copied' tricks.

These are the favourite tricks by Tricks Co. Ltd. Japan I own and sometimes (not often though) perform:
- Surprise Card (one of my favourite parlor/stage tricks) ;
- Super Knife Through Bill (for close-up), although I have to admit I prefer to use the version by Masuda ("The Blade") which looks much more realistic;
- Pegged card mystery, a very unusual penetration (close-up) and
- Miracle Seperation, (close up) which can be discribed as an early version of Tenyo's Mobile Illusion in my opinion. Most spectators figure this one out, but when I use it I have it as an 'introduction' to 'magic apparatus', so no problem is someone figures it out.

The oldest one I have is Silk Dimension., great for parlor and especially stage.

I would like to add another question to Towledge's questions: what are your favourite Tricks Co. tricks?

Seems I recall the Tricks guys left Tenyo to start their own company...?

Did Tricks Co. make a Tenyo-like Crystal Pyramdid for instance?

I don't think so Bill, I dó know there is a cheap Chinese version of the trick.

You could be right Julie ... I vagely remember something like that too now that you mention it.

Yes you are correct the Crystal Pyramid is a Chinese version of Tenyo. Not sure how it compares with originals.

Has anyone heard of a Tricks Company effect called the “Magic Pierrot?” (I think)
The effect is as follows:
A white clown is inserted into a frame and becomes a colorful clown, which is then fixed with a clamp. The clown is then magically freed from the clamp and pulled from the frame.
I would really like to add this piece to my collection.

Thanks,
Kirk

I was never able to find a presentation for Mystery Door. Why would a person want to do it? The method is clever and I wish I could have thought of a way to use it.

I would simply present as an interesting magical puzzle which I think is OK for informal settings. Many Tricks Co. items and Tenyo items fall into this area for me.
