Getting back to the original post. Can run-of-the-mill dealers make $100,000 in a year? Well--and I'll double-check the arithmetic this time--that would be 1000 $100 transactions in a year, or about 3 a day. $200 transactions would require 1.5 a day and so on.
Of course I'm talking about gross sales. I don't know what the standard markup would be. It does not seem out of the question. John

Drug dealers can not be that easily pigeon holed, there is no such thing as a "run of the mill" drug dealer.

The thing is, few of us (if any) have an idea what a typical purchase of hard drugs is. (I suspect one or two of us has an idea what grass costs, though I personally have no idea; however, I once read a website giving information about prices and etiquette for the scene in Amsterdam.)
It could be that your average crack sale is ten bucks, while your average Beverly Hills transaction is $10,000. That skews the statistics. |

Well, in Holland it is sold by the gram. How many grams are in an ounce?
But my point is still that none of us NOTS regulars know what smack or blow cost. In fact, they probably aren't called smack or blow, which shows what WE know. |

WHOA! An ounce is a lot, then.
Here in Lower Saxony, possessing a few grams of grass is perfectly legal. But I suppose that ain't so much, is it? |

28, so I hear....
Pharmacies also sell by the gram. I think The News uses the gram cost and multiplies it for street values. i.e, $17 a gram, times 28 would be $476 an ounce, while a single ounce purchase of that might sell for $250. Higher end, botanically manipulated meds, might be $25 a gram or $400 by the ounce. From what I read, most California Med people do not use hard drugs, and even end up cutting down on alcohol. I think it really depends on if you are using cannibis for recreation or actually as a medicine. ..you are right, who really knows how much the nasty stuff costs???

If you think of a can, or a pocket size bag of pipe tobacco that is the equivelant to an ounce of pot.

Standard test to see if any of your students are in the business:
"How many grams are in an ounce?"--somebody will answer right away. John

I'm claiming that it was a lucky guess. I have answered my last question.

It's 28 grams. Jeff, that's nothing. I have seen garbage bags full in Chico.
Good one John. I can find out about the prices of other stuff... I have friends in low places.
